2016 NORTH OLMSTED COMMUNITY COUNCIL PARADE NOTICE AND ENTRY FORM

PARADE THEME: “North Olmsted” “Gateway to the Future”

Please fill out the entry form and mail to parade chairmen.

Awards will be made in each of these classifications: “NON-COMMERCIAL”, “COMMERCIAL” and “JUNIOR”. Cash prizes of $75.00, $50.00 and $25.00 will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners respectively in the “NON-COMMERCIAL” CATEGORY. Trophies will be presented to first, second, and third place winners in the “COMMERCIAL” category. A cash award of $50.00 and a trophy will be given to the first place winner only in the “JUNIOR” category. Junior floats must be built and manned by youths of 18 years of age and younger. Parade Committee reserves the right to award honorable mention to those junior floats that the Judges select. A Grand Prize of $100.00 cash will be awarded to the Best Float in the Parade. All entries will be judged on the theme, detail, effort, originality and ingenuity. Conformity to theme will be the only basis of eligibility for an award. Float entries must be no more than 16 feet high and 10 feet wide.

SPECIAL REGULATIONS:

CANDY, PENCILS, EMERY BOARDS, COUPONS, ECT. ARE ALLOWED TO BE GIVEN – HANDED TO THE PARADE WATCHERS. NO THROWING FROM ANYONE IN THE PARADE.

ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL PROVIDE IDENTIFYING SIGNS ATTACHED TO BOTH SIDES OF VEHICLE OR A BANNER CARRIED BEFORE THE ENTRY.

ALL CITY OFFICIALS THAT ARE IN THE FRONT OF THE PARADE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO POLITIC WITH SIGNS, SHIRTS, PINS, BANNERS, ETC. YOU ARE REPRESENTING THE CITY – NOT POLITICS.

VIOLATORS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE PARADE AND BARRED FROM FUTURE PARTICIPATION.

IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL MOVE TOWARD THE RIGHT CURB AND COME TO A HALT, REMAINING THERE UNTIL SIGNALED TO PROCEED.

NO UNLICENSED MOTOR VEHICLES ARE PERMITTED.

DEADLINE: ALL ENTRIES MUST BE IN BY AUGUST 18, 2016. LATER ENTRIES MAY NOT BE ELIGBLE FOR JUDGING AND MAY BE PLACED AT THE REAR OF THE PARADE.

All floats must be free of possible safety hazards. Community Council reserves the right to prohibit obviously unsafe entries from participating in the parade.

The Participant agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the North Olmsted Community Council and its Officers and the City of North Olmsted from any claim, demand, suit, loss, cost of expense, or any damage which may be asserted, claimed, or recovered against or from the municipality by reason of any damage to property, personal injury or bodily injury, including death, sustained by any person whomsoever and which damage, injury, or death, arises out of or is incident to or in any way connected with the performance of this contract, and regardless of which claim, demand, damage, loss, cost of expense is caused in whole or in party by the negligence of the participant, or by third parties, or by the agents, servants, volunteers, employees or factors of any of them. PLEASE – This LINE-UP is all new for us and you. PLEASE comply with our requests and hopefully we will pull off another wonderful PARADE.

Only Floats and Parade Vehicles will be allowed in the Burns Rd. High School entrance. Only Antique Cars, Fire trucks, City Trucks, and NO Bus are to go to the next HS drive after the entrance of High School to the back to pull around on the side of the HS to line up. For Parade Participants with Floats and Vehicles in Parade go to Butternut Ridge Rd., to Burns Rd. Go to the entrance of the High School, 5755 Burns Rd. and Parade Volunteers will tell you where to proceed. Please tell the Volunteer your Parade Position. To save the homeowners on Burns Rd. please follow the rules of dropping off participants. All drop offs of Participants will have to be through the back parking lot off of Revere. Dropping off Parade Participants or Parking your Car go to Butternut Ridge Rd., then south on Revere Dr., to almost to the end of Revere and turn right into the High School Back Parking Lot. Please park there and walk to the Front Parking Lot of the High School. Find a bright yellow shirt Volunteer, located on the grass between back lot and parade front lot and tell the volunteer name of your group and position line up and they will show you the way.
