Rose presentations, love stories and wonderful music from the past woo hearts and imaginations in Ensemble Caprice’s iLove baroque LONDON, ON, October 23, 2017 … On Friday, November 3, 2017, London’s Jeffery Concerts presents the renowned Ensemble Caprice, a baroque ensemble which performs on period instruments, in “iLove baroque – Short Stories and Voices of Eternity” Acclaimed as an original voice in early music, Ensemble Caprice’s spirit of innovation and adventure is reflected in its concert description: “iLove baroque creates a lively atmosphere designed to engage the audience in an unusual way. Five musicians, eight short anecdotes, nine roses, two centuries of wonderful music from five different countries by composers like J. S. Bach, A. Vivaldi, A. Falconiero and J. H. Schmelzer; all these make for a program full of drama, tenderness, joy, humour and melancholy.” iLove baroque is the second of eight concerts in Jeffery Concerts’ 2017-18 season, the 30th Anniversary for this well-loved London classical chamber series. Throughout the season, tribute will be paid to the remarkable legacy of London music-lover and benefactor Gordon Jeffery. Each concert will showcase musicians of international reputation and Canadian rising stars, and explore various facets of Gordon Jeffery’s musical passions. “iLove baroque is a perfect fit because Gordon Jeffery loved Baroque music intensely,” says Ralph Aldrich, a founding member of the Gordon Jeffery Music Foundation. About Gordon Jeffery A lawyer, organist, conductor, collector, and impresario, Gordon Jeffery (1919- 1986) was a unique personality who played an important role in the city’s cultural history. A member of the family of lawyers associated with the London Life Insurance Company, Gordon Jeffery was unconventional, visionary, energetic, and deeply passionate about all aspects of music-making. He used his personal
1 wealth to enrich London’s musical life tremendously, and his legacy lives on for music-lovers and young musicians today.
