Physical Therapist (Army Reservist) 7450th MBB, Aurora, CO October 2015 to present Promotes unit readiness for reservist soldiers through training opportunities for soldiers on drill weekends. Provides workshops to soldiers on topics ranging from sports nutrition to running biomechanics to basic rehabilitation principles. Serves as a subject matter expert for the unit’s physical training and weight-control program. Maintains personal readiness in all aspects of military career in order to deploy when needed. Continues to perform as an Army athlete as well as support staff to Army athletes during training and competition.
Co-Owner at Natural Performance Rehab, LLC Colorado Springs, CO February 2014 to present Operates a cash-based physical therapy and sports performance practice focused on functional outcomes. Consultant to the local community with specialization in performance testing, sports performance, injury reduction and movement assessments, and health and wellness for the athlete. Recent projects have included movement assessments, programming, and injury prevention training for local swimming, weight-lifting, and running clubs as well as training for Crossfit and strength coaches. Patients range from weekend warrior to Olympic athlete. Monthly contributor for local running publications, “The Long Run” for the Pikes Peak Road Runners and the Mad Moose Race Series newsletters.
Physical Therapist (Army Active Duty) Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, CO May 2013 to October 2015 Provided quality physical rehabilitation services for neuromusculoskeletal conditions for Tricare beneficiaries (~150,000 in local market) with an average of 5,000 visits per month and ~600 new patients per month. Utilized the latest evidence-based research to examine, evaluate, treat, and develop a personalized plan of care for every patient. Served as Clinical Instructor to doctoral students of physical therapy. Instructed several functional rehabilitation classes for Fort Carson soldiers focused on healthy running technique, knee rehabilitation, and successful training behaviors. Worked closely with the WCAP program to provide expedient rehabilitation services and sports medicine coverage. Provided further sports medicine coverage to several All-Army teams (marathon, orienteering, cross country) and the Army wounded warriors during their training and competition seasons.
Brigade Physical Therapist Fort Carson, CO September 2011 to May 2013 Physical therapist organic to 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division. Served in both the deployed and garrison settings. Duties included: evaluation and treatment of soldiers requiring rehabilitation, injury surveillance and reporting to command, promotion, education, and training of all physical training guidelines to include reconditioning programs, liaison and coordinator for data collection of physical performance measures and injury risk data within the brigade for research purposes (>2,000 soldiers were captured), and musculoskeletal resource/consultant for other brigade healthcare providers. Doctoral Student in Physical Therapy Joint Base San Antonio, San Antonio, TX September 2008 to August 2011 Education culminated in an extensive 9-month internship in outpatient orthopedics with Texas Physical Therapy Specialists (Bulverde, TX). Clinical education also included a 2-month brigade position with 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY with performance testing experience with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. Coordinated and executed the first annual “Salute to Service Members 5k” in Selma, TX to raise money for Operation Comfort, a non-profit organization benefiting our wounded warriors. This 5k has continued to grow in participation and revenue since its inception in 2011.
