Scientist Cereal Box Production
1. Get an empty cereal box and redesign the box to honor the scientist.
2. Cover your box with construction paper or some other decorative material.
3. Design and label the box top to include your name, date and your class period.
4. Design the front of the box with the full name of the scientist, an appropriately-sized, large picture of the scientist, and the years during which the scientist lived (ex. 1805-1868) or the year the scientist was born if the scientist is still alive. A printed-out picture is preferred but a very well done and neatly drawn picture will be accepted.
5. Design and label a side panel as “Historical Events”. This section must include major historical events that happened during the scientist’s lifetime, such as a war, a famine, a ruling monarchy or dictatorship. Use complete sentences.
6. Design and label a side panel as “Bibliography”. This section must include all of the sources used to gather the information. The bibliography must be in MLA format.
7. Design and label the back of the box as “Scientist Biography”. This section must include all major scientific discoveries or contributions to science made by the scientist. This section must include life facts about the scientist, such as the country where the scientist was born, where the scientist went to college, and in what type of science the scientist studied or specialized, and any interesting facts about the scientist. Scientist Cereal Box Instructions
This is an individual project worth 45 points.
The rough draft of the writing for the scientist cereal box project is due:
o Periods 1 and 5 are due Wednesday May 7, 2014.
o Periods 2, 4, and 6 are due Thursday May 8, 2014.
The final scientist cereal box project is due Friday May 9, 2014.
Rough drafts are required to be turned in on the due date.
If rough drafts are not turned in on the due date, the final project will
NOT be accepted on Friday May 9,
Each student in a class must pick a different scientist.
All requirements on the reverse side must be met to get the 45 points.
There is no partial credit.
No late projects are accepted.
If absent on the due date, the project is due upon return to school.
All text must to be done neatly with correct spelling and grammar.
Typing all the information used on your cereal box is preferred, but not
required.
All text must be IN YOUR OWN WORDS!!!
The finished product must be well presented, well decorated, and well
written.
