Dear Parents/Carers,
STAFF CHANGES Miss Barnett/Mrs Peters Many of you will already be aware that Miss Barnett (Teaching Assistant in Reception) married in the October holiday and has now become Mrs Peters. I’m sure you would all like to join me in wishing her a long and happy married life. Mrs Peters has also been successful in securing a promotion and will take on a new role as Nursery Manager in an early years setting based in the Castleford area; she will therefore leave our school on Friday 10th November. Mrs Peters will be greatly missed by her friends and colleagues and of course by the children. I would like to thank Mrs Peters for her hard work, professionalism and her commitment to Wrenthorpe Academy and wish her every success in her new role as Nursery Manager. Miss Cooper Miss Cooper, who already works in school, will take on the role as Reception Teaching Assistant. Mrs Murphy Mrs Murphy has been appointed as an additional Teaching Assistant who will support individuals and groups of children across school.
INSPIRE Mornings Thank you for attending our Inspire Mornings and supporting your child with writing. I have collated the very positive feedback we received and sent a copy home for you to read. Please see the diary at the end of this letter for the dates of our next Inspire Mornings, which will have a focus on creativity and will be linked to your child’s class topic.
Parent Feedback Please complete and return the recent ‘Ofsted style’ parent feedback form which was sent home. Your responses will help us to continue to make improvements to our school, as our aim is to secure a judgement of ‘outstanding’ at the next Ofsted inspection visit.
Jewellery A reminder that children are NOT permitted to wear jewellery. Many children have their ears pierced, but after they have healed they are not permitted to wear earrings at school. Outwood Grange Academy also does NOT permit the wearing of earrings. The majority of the primary schools in the Outwood pyramid have chosen to follow the same rule. We ask you to help support your child in following the school rules, thank you. Anti-Bullying Week 13 th November - 17 th November 2017 Next week we will be raising awareness of issues related to bullying (both at school, in the community and on-line). The theme for this year is: ‘All Different, All Equal’. We would ask that you would also take this opportunity to discuss this with your children and reinforce the same strong messages: Bullying is ‘any unwanted behaviour that is persistent and repeated over time’. Bullying will not be tolerated in school. Children must report behaviour that they think may be bullying. In school we will learn to be tolerant and respectful of each other and the differences which exist between us.
Macmillan Coffee Morning Thank you to all who attended; this was a very popular and successful event which raised £310.51. Thank you to Mrs Parry who organised the event and to the year 5 children who baked cakes in school, made flags, posters and coasters for the tables. Thank you to all other children who baked amazing cakes and buns at home to donate to the event. In addition to this, those who attended the event were entertained by our wonderful Samba Band and School Choir.
Drawing Competition This was organised by three children in year 5 who wanted to raise some money to help one of their friends who is making use of the Martin House charity. Other children also contributed by baking and selling cakes to family and friends at home. We are very proud of this group of children who showed enterprise and a real sense of community, raising a wonderful £59. The drawing competition was judged by a panel of children and staff who chose: Reception & KS1 winner: Billy Thompson Year 3 and 4 winner: Lucy Matthew Year 5 and 6 winner: Nikolas Beet
