Community and Events Fundraiser – The Hamlet

Full Time – 36 hours per week (including evenings and weekends as required by the role)

Salary: £18,674.84 - £21,402.42 (depending on experience)

Are you a creative and imaginative fundraiser, who will deliver unique fundraising events, whilst inspiring fundraisers to organiser their own events and activities? We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced fundraiser to work at The Hamlet charity in Norwich in the next stage of its development.

Job Role

Fundraising

 Take responsibility for scoping and developing a calendar of The Hamlet organised fundraising activity, which may include community, events and corporate fundraising, ensuring return on investment (ROI) of at least 3:1

 Develop and implement initiatives that support the growth and long term income potential, from collection boxes, merchandise sales, staff and third party fundraising.

 To raise income within agreed targets ensuring an acceptable ROI is maintained highlighting any variances against personal and team targets. (Salary plus 100%)

 To act as first point of contact for enquiries in the community, providing excellent customer service and ensuring every enquiry is maximised to its full potential.

 To actively promote fundraising in Norwich and Norfolk

 Build and develop positive relationships with pubs, clubs, associations, organisations, local businesses and larger corporate, working closely with Marketing, Communications and Fundraising Co-ordinator to maximise income potential Fundraisers and Supporters

 To provide first class fundraising support to groups and individuals.

 To ensure all correspondence with supporters / fundraisers is personalised, supportive, to a high standard and managed in a timely manner.

 To help recruit and support fundraising volunteers.

 To encourage new supporters to take on a fundraising activity.

Administration

 Liaise with venues and suppliers to obtain best prices for services and products.

 To ensure accurate administration as part of the fundraising team to guarantee the smooth and profitable running of fundraising activities.

 To process monies coming in line with Hamlet finance procedures and provide timely reports as directed

Working Arrangements

 The job holder will be expected to work a flexible week which might require evening and weekends as required by the duties of the post. Time off in lieu will be given.

 To travel around the region to carry out job role as required

 The job is based within the location of the central team (currently Ella Road, Norwich)

 To undertake training and skills development and keep up to date with the changing requirements of the role

 A qualification in fundraising (Desirable)  Experience of working in a fundraising environment or experience of successful event management with voluntary experience of working in a fundraising environment. (Essential)  An understanding of events organisation and fundraising in local communities (Essential)

 A highly motivated individual who is able to work well on their own initiative, as well as part of a team (Essential)

 Sets high standards and is committed to high quality delivery (Essential)

 Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels (Essential)

 An excellent command of the English language both verbally and in writing. (Essential)  Very good level of IT literacy including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and use of the internet and social media platforms (Essential)

 Able to persuade, motivate and negotiate (Essential)

 Comfortable with variety and dealing with new/unexpected challenges (Essential)

 Be physically able to cope with a physically demanding role that involves lifting and transporting equipment / resources for events, including the setting up and taking down of such events. (Essential)

 Working knowledge of Health and Safety and Public Liability issues when running events and fundraising activities (Highly desirable)

 Excellent time management and organisational skills, including project and financial planning skills (Essential)

 Experience of managing and delivering budgets to target (Desirable)

 Sales experience, by phone and/ or face-to-face (Desirable)

 Proven ability to be self motivated, organising and prioritising own workload (Essential)

 Work to deadlines and at weekends and in evenings (Essential)

 Experience of public speaking or similar (Desirable)  Understand the complexity and barriers facing families with children / adults with disabilities. (Desirable)

 Experience of working with volunteers (Highly desirable)

 Must hold a current driver’s licence and have access to a vehicle (Essential)
