 Connecticut 2-1-1 2-1-1 is Connecticut’s free information and referral service. Simply by dialing 2- 1-1, a toll-free number throughout Connecticut, callers can reach knowledgeable, multilingual staff and get information, referrals or seek help in a crisis. 2-1-1 operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

 Town of Sterling Emergency Operation Center

The Connecticut State Police and the Town of Sterling would like to remind the residents of Sterling that due to the power outage and lack of telephone service, the Emergency Operation Center is open and available to assist all of those in need.

The Emergency Operation Center is located: Sterling Municipal Building, 1183 Route 114A in the Village of Oneco.

 Help Fair Organized For East Haven Residents Impacted By Hurricane Irene The town of East Haven has organized a Help Fair for residents impacted by Hurricane Irene. The fair will be held on:

September 3, 2011 from 9am to12noon East Haven High School at 35 Wheelbarrow Lane.

Representatives from FEMA, the Red Cross, the state insurance department, United Illuminating, AT&T, Comcast, the United Way and many more will be present to answer questions and address concerns.

 Showers/Cell Phones Any callers asking about where they can take a shower, charge their cell phone and/or get water can be referred to the MAIN NUMBER to their local city or town office. To find this in Refer please use the taxonomy term "Local Officials Offices."

Planet Fitness is opening up their gyms for people to use the shower facilities; there are several branches throughout Connecticut. Please refer them to the website (you can access this and search for them if time allows): www.planetfitness.com/gyms/ct PLEASE contact your local site before going there to ensure they have power!!

 Hurricane Irene Shelter Information Updated as of: Wednesday, August 31, 2011 o BRANFORD: Emergency shelter is located at the Community House Recreation Center o BRIDGEPORT: Bassick High School, 181 Fairfield Avenue o DANBURY: Danbury War Memorial, 1 Memorial Drive o DEEP RIVER: John Winthrop Middle School, 1 Winthrop Road o EAST HAVEN: East Haven High School, 35 Wheelbarrow Lane o EAST LYME: East Lyme Senior Center o GUILFORD: Community Center, 32 Church Street open o KILLINGWORTH: Emergency shelter located at Killingworth Elementary School, 340 Route 81 (8/30/11: open 9am-6pm) o MANSFIELD: Emergency shelter at Mansfield Community Center open 10am on Tuesday, August 30. The shelter will provide sleeping accommodations, hot showers, and access to electricity to charge cell phones.
