A RESOLUTION Honoring Collins High School Runner Jay Solinger for Winning the 2013 Cross

A RESOLUTION honoring Collins High School runner Jay Solinger for winning the 2013 Cross Country State Title at the Class AA Track and Field Championship. WHEREAS, on Saturday, November 9, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Collins High School runner Jay Solinger became the first male runner at Collins High School to win a Cross Country State Title at the 2013 Class AA Track and Field Championship; and WHEREAS, Jay Solinger posted an impressive time of 16 minutes and 24.60 seconds, defeating Ethan Shuley of Highlands High School. Jay's time was 20 seconds faster than last year's Class AA state champion; and WHEREAS, Jay Solinger finished 14th at the event last year, and through hard work and dedication, he improved upon that finish in an extraordinary way, taking home a state championship and cementing his performance in the annals of this Commonwealth's strong cross country tradition; and WHEREAS, this honorable body hereby commends Jay Solinger for winning the Class AA State Title; acknowledges the hard work of his coach, Stephen Drawbaugh; and wishes this young athlete the utmost success in all his future endeavors; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

 Section 1. The members of the Senate acknowledge the dedication, perseverance, and talent of Jay Solinger; congratulate him for winning the 2013 Class AA Cross Country State Championship; and duly note the efforts of his coach, Stephen Drawbaugh, all the support staff, and the entire Collins High School community for laying the groundwork for this laudable achievement.

 Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Jay Solinger.
