LGBT Coming Out Day Picnic hosted by Mpls Public Schools at Matthews Park on Oct. 11. 5 - 7PM

There is a Facebook page for Stand Up, Speak Out MN - October 22nd

Claude Steele will speak on Stereotype Threat at Black, Nov. 5 at 7PM.

BONUS announcement: Empty Bowls meal at Powderhorn Park in Mpls., 11AM - 7PM. You get a good meal, keep the bowl, and donate to fight hunger. Last year they raised over $30,000.

Trans Health Conference October 12, at South High, free.

OUR OWN TATUM HAS RECEIVED A COMMUNITY PARTNER AWARD! YAY!

Random important items: LGBT kids are 3 times more likely to be disciplined. 90% of students in Emotional Behavior classes in Minneapolis are African American males. LGBT youth tend to drop out at 10th grade.

There was a long discussion about school to prison pipeline.

For the November 12 meeting, please bring short film clips, DVDs, and lists of useful film items. We will collectively compile a list and note age appropriateness for each.

Education Minnesota -

* drop off items for the MNSOC table to Lindsey at Family Tree by Wednesday, October 16th. Tatum presented our new banner --- YAY -- it is gorgeous and will debut at Ed MN. MNSOC brochure - we need to update the membership list. Several people volunteered to work on this. Phone calls will be made to groups on list.

February 25th MN legislative session starts. Therefore, March 3rd, OutFront Minnesota will have the Youth Summit so youth will have knowledge early on about impacting legislation.

Q Quest - looking for a new location - Blake is a possibility. Considering the week of March 17 - 21.
