Event Helps Real-Estate Pros with Building Success Through Education While Earning CE Credits

March 27, 2014 Event helps real-estate pros with “Building Success Through Education” while earning CE credits

PETERSBURG – The Southside Association of REALTORS® will present its spring education fair, “Building Success Through Education,” an opportunity for REALTORS® and other real-estate licensees to earn continuing-education credits and to stay abreast of issues, trends and laws affecting their industry, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. April 10.

The event will include morning and afternoon sessions and will feature legal, housing and appraisal experts at Petersburg Country Club, 1250 Flank Road, Petersburg.

Topics and speakers will include:

 “Fair Housing,” featuring laws in regard to fair housing and what constitutes violation of these laws, with Mally Mason, fair housing training specialist with the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.;  “Lunch and Learn,” a safety class, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.;  “Agency: A Complicated Relationship,” with Blake Hegeman, legal counsel for the Virginia Association of REALTORS®, from 1 to 2 p.m.; and,  “What REALTORS® Need to Know About Appraisals,” including the responsibilities and reporting requirements of the appraiser, with Mack Strickland, president of Strickland Appraisal Services and a member of the DPOR’s Real Estate Appraiser Board, from 2:15 to 5:15 p.m.

The day will also include a member social. Lunch and afternoon snack will be served and are included in the registration fee. “Building Success Through Education” is sponsored by HMS Home Warranty – Katy Allenbaugh-Richards.

Full-day registration is $50 until April 1; after that day it is $65. Morning-only registration is $40; afternoon-only registration is $40. Continuing- education credits for each class are as follows: “Fair Housing,” three hours of fair housing CE credit; “Agency: A Complicated Relationship,” one hour of real estate-related CE credit; and “What REALTORS® Need to Know About Appraisals,” three hours of real estate-related CE credit. No continuing-education credit is offered for the “Lunch & Learn” safety class.
