Pratt Music Foundation Scholarships: - Do you know a student who would benefit from private music lessons but who is restricted by finances? The Pratt Music Foundation’s mission is to provide talented youth an opportunity to enhance their musical ability through private lessons. Music lessons are expensive and simply not an option for some children and families: this is where the Pratt Music Foundation comes in. The Foundation grants full music lesson scholarships to the Illinois Wesleyan University Music Preparatory Program. Instruction is available in piano or strings (violin, viola, cello, bass). Music scholarships are awarded to area students in grades K through 12 each spring, and are based on financial need, motivation, and talent. Applications are due by June 1. Each scholarship covers one school year of instruction, starting in the fall (2014-2015) and includes summer lessons (2015). Free music books are supplied from the Music Shoppe. Downloadable applications are available: Go to www.PrattMusicFoundation.com. For questions or to request an application, call 309-827-5534, or email [email protected].

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is April 4-12. The McLean County Domestic Violence Multidisciplinary Team will be sponsoring two events – The Empty Place at the Table display throughout the week at Coffee Hound (407 N Main St, Bloomington) and a blood drive on Friday, April 11 from 10am-2pm in the EMA Conference Room at the Law & Justice Center. Members of the community can join us in support of victims and our community by calling the American Red Cross at 1-800-448-3543, or going to www.redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment today.

The Normal Rotary Club budgets each year for a few small grants to non-profits which apply for them. The grants typically range from $400 to $700 and are aimed at identifiable projects which may be difficult to finance through normal channels. They should benefit people in the community, with children and youth always attractive to our grants committee. A simple one or two page narrative about the project and the applying organization is all that is necessary. It should answer the questions What is the organization? Is it a registered 501 (c)(3)? What is the project? When will it take place? Who benefits? Who carries out the project? What other financing is available? These applications should be sent email tp < [email protected]> with Normal Rotary Mini Grant in the subject line. Applications will be received until April 28th. The decisions will be made by a 7 person committee of the Normal Rotary Club.
