Student Learning Target (SLT)
Grade: Subject: Health & PE # of Interval of Full Year K-2 students: 38 instruction: Semester Other ______LDOE Yes Assessment Common name: East Baton Rouge Parish Components of No Assessment? Physical Fitness
Rationale for SLT: (Please include targeted content standards and/or explanation of assessment method, as applicable.)
The intent of this student learning target area is for students to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness. A health-related fitness assessment is a complete battery of assessment items that are scored using the criterion/norm referenced standards, as established by Fitnessgram®/Presidential Challenge. These outcomes are in line with Louisiana Middle PE Standards 3-M (students exhibits a physically active lifestyle and Standard 4-M (Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness. Student Learning Target: Student Learning Target: 75% of students or more will improve their health-related fitness tests by showing personal growth in at least 2 of the 4 given health-related fitness tests as established by Fitnessgram®/Presidential Challenge or any other nationally recognized test (cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and flexibility. PE Standard 4-P-1: Sustains activity from moderate to vigorous intensity levels while participating in physical activity. PE Standard 4-P-3: Demonstrates activities that increase muscular strength and endurance. PE Standard 4-P-4: Demonstrates moving each joint through a full range of motion. Baseline Data: (Please include what you know about the targeted students’ performance/skills/achievement levels at the beginning of the year, as well as any additional student data or background info used in setting your target.)
49% or less of students (**) showed personal growth in at least 2 of 4 tests at the beginning of the school year. met or exceeded healthy fitness zones in at least three of the four components at the beginning of the school year. By the end of the year, we expect these students to have improved in accordance with physical activity during their PE classes. Of the remaining students, 23% (###) met or exceeded healthy fitness zones in at least two of the four components; and 17 (###) met or exceeded healthy fitness ones in at least one of the four components. With intensive support, I estimate that approximately 75% of these students will be able to meet the target.
Baseline data were obtained by having all students complete fitness tests in August/September. Students will complete the same fitness test again in April/May.
