Job Description Summary/Objective The Operations Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operation and performs the Director’s duties in his absence. The Operations Supervisor needs to be self-motivated to function well in this position. He/she will assist the Plant Service Director in planning, coordinating, and implementing building and repair projects. He/she must also have five years of experience in construction. This position requires flexibility, weekend work at times, and must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies.

Essential Functions 1. Handle the day-to-day operations including working on different projects on campus. 2. Answer employee questions and deal with daily employee and customer problems or situations. 3. Institute a safe, clean, and orderly work place in all shop areas. 4. Obtain CDL license with passenger endorsement to help with driving the bus. Some weekend trips will be required. 5. Delegate the use and supervision of student workers. 6. Participate in the weekend on-call rotation. (On-call pay is provided.) 7. Assist in campus snow removal. 8. Serve on campus committees. 9. Maintain compliance responsibilities and records related to the Plant Service department. 10. Oversee and supervise designated projects. 11. Perform other related or unrelated duties as assigned by the Director of Plant Service.

Skills 1. Experience in construction 2. Experience in remodeling, maintenance, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical. 3. Basic computer and e-mail skills. 4. Knowledge of maintenance equipment and use of plumbing, electrical, and hand tools.

Competencies 1. Must be a self-starter, able to handle the day-to-day operations alone. 2. Problem-solving skills required. 3. Must be proactive, not falling behind schedule, very organized, and instructs himself/herself to improve daily operation when sees fit. 4. Must be able to process paperwork. 5. Must be able to measure time spent on projects and evaluate them.

Special Requirement An expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church; a Seventh-day Adventist church member in good and regular standing.

Physical Demands This position requires standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Must be able to lift up to100 pounds and function outdoors in winter. Must have sufficient manual dexterity to operate forklifts, mowers, tractors, and other equipment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Evening and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience High school diploma required, college preferred.
