Class Descriptions
Boxercise
Boxercise is based upon the technique employed in boxing and pad-work programmes. This class should appeal to anyone who likes a fitness challenge. Exercise circuits utilising a range of equipment are incorporated into these sessions which vary week-to-week.
Fight Club
This is a great cardio, core and strength workout. Bags and gloves are used to enable you to work on a series of punches and kicks.
Step It Up
Step is the ideal class for anyone who has never stepped before. This is a good beginner’s class for burning off the calories. This class can be easy or as hard as you want it to be. Step heights can be adjusted.
Legs, Bums & Tums (LBT)
LBT is one of our most popular classes. It offers participants of all standards and abilities a lower body, up-beat floor exercise workout. It is specifically designed to tone-up and tackle those problem areas
Pilates
Pilates involves strengthening and stretching of the core muscles of the body, with concentration on breathing, posture and flexibility. This is a wellbeing class suitable for all ages.
Active Combat
Active Combat is another highly popular class. It is a carefully developed and pre-designed blend of the most popular fitness concepts. It is a non contact cardiovascular workout which is choreographed to music. It offers a variety of simple yet effective movements and disciplines including martial arts kicks, boxing technique and punching.
Yoga
Yoga involves control of the mind through posture and breathing techniques. The benefits include increased flexibility, strength and vitality. It is an excellent relaxation class.
Aqua Running
For those who enjoy jogging but are unable to undertake high-impact activity Aqua Jogging includes many of the benefits of jogging on dry land while eliminating the shock impact that can affect joints. Water provides support for the body whilst its resistance and hydrostatic pressure increases blood flow throughout. In turn the exercises reduce exercise heart rates and result in a highly effective workout.
No Strings Badminton
Open to all abilities this class will provide you with coaching opportunities to improve your game. The equipment is provided for you and this class is open to everyone from beginners to county players!
Squash Coaching
This is a great opportunity for you to learn to play squash for the first time or to hone your skills if you are already a regular squash player. Yogalates
This class is a mix of Yoga and Pilates which involves control of the mind through posture and breathing techniques. The benefits include increased flexibility, strength and vitality. This class is ideal for all levels of Yoga enthusiast.
Train Insane
You work flat out in 3 to 5 minute blocks and take breaks only long enough to gulp some air and get right back to work. It's called Max Interval Training as it keeps your body working at maximum capacity through your entire workout. You keep pushing your limits forcing your body to adapt. That's how you will get in such insane shape during this term!
Zumba & Aqua Zumba
Zumba is an eclectic mix of world dance and aerobics. This is one of our most popular sessions on the schedule and is a great fun way to get fit! Aqua Zumba is new and takes place in the swimming pool.
Active Circuit
This challenging circuit aims to improve your strength and stamina using a variety of timed work-stations. Participants are encouraged to work as hard as they want, making this class suitable for all abilities.
Swim Technique
Swim technique is aimed at those who want to keep fit but at the same time improve their technique. Introducing modules from the ASA swimming progamme this class is for all abilities and will focus on individuals personal goals. Its aim is to make you a more confident and better swimmer.
Spinning
Spinning has quickly become one of our most popular classes. This class will get you to pedal for fitness and for fun in this challenging indoor cycling workout. Combine speed and power to climb hills and sprint as fast as you can to burn calories and condition your body from head to toe.
Pump
Pump builds all major muscle groups using proven exercises. Squats, presses, lift and curls in the gym weight room will rapidly hone your body: a great strength and conditioning workout.
Swim Fitness
Swim Fitness is for all abilities, the class is held in the main pool. This class is split into four elements tone and shape, fitness and performance.
