PROGRAM – Flying J’s Clean Fuels Project

The Big West refinery is currently processing 70,000 barrels of crude oil per day and supplying California with gasoline and diesel. The Clean Fuels project is to expand the refining capcity to output an additional 1.2 million gallons of clean gasoline and diesel per day and equaling 4% of California’s gasoline and 12% of its diesel needs. The refinery, once expanded, will be one of the cleanest refineries in the nation. This is an increase of 65% of the output of gasoline and diesel without increasing the number of barrels processed. Economically, it establishes 100 new permanent jobs paying $70,000 or more, employs up to 1200 workers during the 2 year construction and pumps $100 million annually into the local economy. Big West is one of the safest refineries in the nation and is currently under a strict environmental review by local, regional, state and federal agencies.
