The Nine Gifts of the Holy Spirit

By Ronald Bussey

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are available to be used by believers in Jesus Christ. God does give everyone the same gifts and not every believer operates in the same gifts. Each gift of the Holy Spirit comes from above. These are the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit:

1. “ The Word of Wisdom” is a supernatural utterance at a given moment, which supernaturally discloses the mind, the purpose, and the way of God as applied to a specific situation. 2. “The Word of Knowledge” is a supernatural revelation of information for a person or group of people about a specific thing and has to do with an immediate need. 3. “The Gifts of Faith” is a special outpouring of supernatural faith for the release of a miracle. 4. “ Gifts of Healing” are those healings that God performs supernaturally 5. “The Working of Miracles” is a manifestation of divine power beyond the course of natural law. It is a divine gift to do something that could not be done naturally. 6. “ Prophecy” is a supernatural disclosure, an edifying revelation, sudden Holy Spirit inspired insight that prompts exhortation or a word of comfort. 7. “ Discerning of Spirits” is the ability to discern the spirit world and especially to detect the true source of circumstances or motives of people. 8. “Different kinds of Tongues” is the gift of speaking supernaturally in a language not known to the individual or in a heavenly language. It also includes praying and singing in the spirit. 9. “The Gift of Interpretation of Tongues” is the gift of translating what the Holy Spirit is saying through tongues, and this gift can be used both privately and publicly.

Jesus did not leave us alone but He sent the Holy Spirit back to equip us to do the labor in the fields and to make disciples of all believers. We have all the gifts necessary to get the work done here on earth. God did not leave anything out. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens use because He has also equipped us. To get more understanding on the gifts, read I Corinthians 12. We have no excuse not to do the work of God because He has supplied all our needs. Once you know what your gift(s) is/are you should prepare yourself in the word of God to do His will. His will is always to go make disciples and win souls.
