BOS Family,
First and foremost, I would like to personally wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. My husband and I will be visiting our daughter, son-in law and granddaughter in New Hampshire over the Thanksgiving break. It is my hope that you get some time with your friends and family as well. Thank you all so much for the incredible outpouring of community support extended to the Martinez family. Please continue to keep them in your hearts and thoughts over the holiday season.
These past 6 weeks we had 319 students with perfect attendance and a 95.4% attendance rate. Our attendance breakdown is as follows: 9th – 96.05% 10th -95.38% 11th – 95.31% 12th - 94.39%
As a reminder, our campus goal is a 97% attendance rate. The benefits include increase our opportunities for students to perform better in their class, increased performance on STAAR and AP Exams as well as the possibility of receiving a distinction at the end of the year from the Texas Education Agency. Please know the 97% is a realistic goal. We recently had a senior class challenge for the highest attendance rate and Mrs. Freeman’s BC Calculus class won that challenge with a 97.7% attendance rate.
The 3rd 6 weeks is historically the most challenging and we will need your support in ensuring your student comes to school each day ready to learn. Together, we can make this happen!
Congratulations to Lady Pioneer Volleyball who went deeper into playoffs than ever before in BOS’ history. These girls are truly incredible and congratulations to them, Coach Anderson and his coaching staff. Please see Twitter or FB for the long list of District Awards received by our well deserving players. Tonight, please join us at the 2nd round of football playoffs as we face off against Dunbar. This game will be played at CTHS’ stadium. Let’s #riseup and do this, BOS!
A few weeks ago, BOS was visited by the Department of Education (DOE) as part of a Shadow the Principal for a Day project. I am so very proud of our school and will take every opportunity to “tell our story” and share the great accomplishments and traditions of Boswell High School. Here is what the DOE representative said:
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to shadow you, during the Department’s Principal Shadowing (Shadowing) event. The information you provided was invaluable. The campus tour, classroom visits, and student observations were unbelievable and impressive. I was truly impressed with the “family” environment that you created for students, parents, and staff at Boswell High School. You, and your staff, solidified my belief that an engaged and zealous teacher is one of the key factors to academic success. Please help us spread the word about Boswell and take every opportunity to talk about the great things we do to family, friends and co-workers. We have set a goal for 2500 Twitter followers by December 16th. Please help us reach our goal and follow us on Twitter @boswellhs. As always, It Is a Great Day to Be a Pioneer!
