Title: Corporate Partnerships Officer (Business Development)

Grade: D

Reporting to: Partnerships Manager

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week

Purpose of the job: To maximise funds by identifying and developing new commercial relationships and securing CotY partnerships, as well as retaining existing corporate partners

Prime responsibilities: With the support of the Partnerships Manager

Business Development – 80% 1. To work proactively to identify, research, develop and secure new corporate partnerships through networking, calling and developing effective, relevant and creative funding proposals 2. To respond to and ensure that new corporate support from unsolicited approaches is developed 3. To maintain the Charity of the Year (CotY) pipeline, researching new CotYs, developing relationships with prospects and producing high quality, targeted applications 4. To accurately portray the work of Bliss and establish effective cases for funding, liaising with project managers across Bliss 5. To work collaboratively with the Partnerships Team on tailored National and Regional approaches to support our work

Account Management – 20% 1. To account manage a selection of corporate partnerships ensuring they meet or exceed target 2. Identifying opportunities to grow support, both financial and nonfinancial from existing partnerships

Team Working 1. To contribute to the planning and implementation of the overall team’s strategy 2. Build good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders 3. To look at fundraising opportunities across the full organisation

Systems and processes: 1. To maintain in house systems for managing work plans and monitoring monthly approaches 2. To contribute to the recording of income and expenditure for corporate relationships being account managed 3. To be responsible for all associated administration involved in new business and account management 4. To ensure that the database and the website are regularly updated

Person Specification The following are essential:  Must have proven experience of working in a targets and results driven environment from either a charity fundraising or corporate sales and marketing background  Knowledge of the principles and methods of corporate fundraising and understanding of the principles of relationship marketing and donor care  A high standard of verbal and written communication skills  An ability to build effective relationships and influence people  A high level of interpersonal skills  Professional approach  Experience of project management  Good IT skills particularly in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint with the ability to produce reports, correspondence, statistics and proposals  Experience with and maintaining information in databases  Excellent time management – ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and work to a high standard  Initiative – i.e. an ability to be self motivated, to think independently and anticipate what needs to be done, rather than wait to be asked  Commitment – a belief in the value of the work being done and therefore is prepared to make extra effort for Bliss  Ability to work as a team member and independently

Special conditions:  Able to demonstrate commitment to the aims and objectives of Bliss  Willingness to work outside office hours and weekends on occasions  Willingness to undertake further training as and when required  Bliss encourages all staff to volunteer at Bliss events coordinated by teams across the charity. There is an expectation that all staff offer to support at least two or three events in a year around their direct job commitments.
