REPRESENTATIVE PROJECTS

SR 80 Over Okaloacoochee Branch, FDOT District One, Polk County, Florida – Mr. Valenzuela was the design engineer responsible for the design of all substructure and superstructure components of these twin 90-degree bridges for FDOT District One. The bridges are AASHTO girder bridges on pile bent supports and span over a waterway channel and wetlands. Royal Palms Parkway Over Bellaire Canal and Lehigh Spur Canal, Flagler County, Florida – Mr. Valenzuela was the design engineer responsible for the design of all substructure and superstructure components of these canal crossings. The Bellaire Canal crossing is a two span AASHTO beam bridge on pile bents. The Lehigh Spur Canal crossing is a curved and highly skewed two span AASHTO beam bridge on pile bents. SR 482 Widening, FDOT District Five , Orlando, Florida - Mr. Valenzuela served as the project engineer for this widening project. The project consisted of multiple bridge widenings on curved and tangent horizontal geometry and a bridge replacement along SR 482 (Sand Lake Rd.). His responsibilities included design of AASHTO prestressed girders, pier and end bent foundations, geometry, slabs and miscellaneous details, quality assurance checks and plan preparation. He provided designs on bridge sites including the Kirkman Rd. and Sand Lake Rd. Interchange where the four bridges were widened to the north with spans varying from 4 to 6. His work also included the design and quality assurance checks of all components for the SR 482 bridge replacement over Shingle Creek which consisted of three AASHTO girder spans on pile bents and included a full design of a flat slab bridge option in the BDR. Apollo Boulevard Over Eau Gallie River, FDOT District Five, Brevard County, Florida – Mr. Valenzuela was the design engineer on this project responsible for the design of all end and intermediate pile bents. The bridge is a 13 span AASHTO girder bridge over a river in a horizontal spiral curve alignment. SR 415 Over the St. Johns River, District Five, Volusia County, Florida – On this project, Mr. Valenzuela participated as the project engineer for the design of all components of an elevated multi- use trail walkway. The walkway consists of double-T concrete prestressed beams founded on pile bent foundations with seven spans over water. SR 408 from Crystal Lake to Conway Road, OOCEA, Orlando, Florida – Mr. Valenzuela served as project engineer for this project which had a total of nine concrete and steel bridge structures, including widenings, new ramp structures and a pedestrian bridge crossing Lake Underhill. The concrete and steel bridges over Lake Underhill included 28 spans with a total of 1,700 feet across the lake. Mr. Valenzuela designed the steel plate girders, steel details, superstructure and end bent components for the 139 ft. simple-span eastbound ramp bridge over Crystal Lake Drive. He also designed AASHTO beams, end bents, deck slabs and performed bridge load ratings for the new and existing superstructures for several other bridges on the project. SR 528 Widening, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise , Orlando, Florida – Mr. Valenzuela served as the project engineer for this complex widening project. The project consisted of multiple bridge widenings and replacements along SR 528. His responsibilities included design of AASHTO prestressed girders, geometry, slabs and sheet pile walls, and plan preparation. He performed design on the bridge sites including; John Young Parkway, a 290 feet four-span skewed AASHTO girder bridge; McCoy Road, a 207 feet three-span skewed AASHTO girder bridge; International Drive, a 177 feet two-span tangent AASHTO girder bridge. All bridges were widened to the inside and outside in both traffic directions.

Lakeland In Town Bypass over CSXT Railroad Tracks, FDOT District One, Polk County, Florida – Mr. Valenzuela was the design engineer responsible for design checking of each substructure and superstructure component of the highly skewed Lakeland In-town Bypass Bridge redesign. The redesigned bridge is a 154’-0” simple span AASHTO Bulb-T 78” girder bridge on pile bent supports over the CSXT railroad tracks. He was also in charge of plans production for each phase of design.

Ormond Beach Crossings Over FEC Railroad Tracks, Palm Coast Holdings, Volusia County, Florida – Mr. Valenzuela was the project engineer responsible for design checking of structure components of these two Ormond Beach Crossings bridges. The bridges are 110’-0” simple span AASHTO Type IV girder bridges on pile bent supports over the FEC Railroad Tracks.

NW 12 th Avenue Replacement Bridge, FDOT, Dade County, Florida – Mr. Valenzuela was a design engineer who performed quality assurance checks for FDOT prestressed beams. Project consists of 745-foot long movable bridge replacement of the existing Bascule Bridge over Miami River.
