You can base your examples of management actions on your own work-based context, in order to meet the assessment criteria for the Unit. (AC)
Unit 5002 Information based decision making
Task 1
Compile a proposal for an additional resource requirement for an aspect of your service/departmental area of responsibility.
AC 1.1-1.4 Appraise the data and information sources to support your proposal, assess their value, identify the legal requirements relating to the collection, use and storage of data and information.
AC 2.1-2.3 Discuss the decision models you have used to support your proposal, demonstrate the ways in which you might present the decisions made, including conclusions and recommendations.

Task 2
Produce a reflective statement on a meeting you have convened to present your proposal, using appropriate theoretical concepts, seek feedback on your leadership style, evaluate the outcomes of the meeting.
AC 3.1- 3.3 Evaluate and discuss the methods and processes of presenting decisions made, evaluate the implementation of this method of communicating.

Task 3 Devise a staff development plan for members of your team, or staff who you have recently line managed. Set SMART objectives for the team which are aligned to individual, team and organisational objectives. Demonstrate your management actions which are designed to promote growth and development within the workplace. Provide examples of how you use effective feedback on performance, including examples of poor performance. Reflect on your experience of conflict management discuss strategies which have been useful. Demonstrate an understanding of the legislation
AC 1.1 -1.4 Explain the link between individual, team and organisational objectives, identify the need to create an environment of trust and support. AC 2.1-2.4 Evaluate and assess individual and team performance against agreed objectives, identify methods of providing feedback, evaluate strategies for minimising conflict in the workplace. AC 3.1-3.3 Explain a performance improvement cycle, discuss indicators of poor performance and evaluate methods that support performance improvement AC 4.1-4.3 Discuss the University’s disciplinary and grievance procedure, identify your role in both a disciplinary and grievance procedure. Summarise the key aspects of legislation that applies to these procedures.
