Description: Medical Ethics/Policy/Humanities Recruitment Ad for Honors College ADVERTISEMENT/POSTING FOR POSITION 9921 The Honors College at the University of South Florida seeks a full-time instructor in the field of Medical Ethics, Health Policy, or Medical Humanities to join a growing, interdisciplinary core faculty. Applicants should be invested in creative pedagogy and curriculum development, and possess a background that demonstrates a commitment to promoting humanism in health care. An ability to teach classes with an international and/or comparative perspective is preferred, as is a demonstrated record of community engagement and an interest in interdisciplinary inquiry. Applicants should have experience teaching high-ability students, and be comfortable working in a liberal arts setting that fosters faculty collaboration and student engagement both inside and outside the classroom. The methodological approach and specialization is open, but potential areas of focus might include new biomedical technologies and ontologies of the body; disability studies and care-giving; infectious disease in political-economic and cultural contexts; epidemics and the politics of biosecurity; medical research and clinical trials; transplants; end-of-life care; drug use/rehabilitation technologies; history of medicine; narrative medicine; or medical anthropology.
Requirements: Demonstrable effectiveness as a teacher at the university level; demonstrable experience with high-ability students; ability to communicate disciplinary interests within a broadly humanistic curriculum; experience with multicultural or global perspectives in course or program development.
A Master's degree is required; Ph.D or M.D. in hand is strongly preferred.
Teaching load is 3/3, plus honors thesis mentoring and other efforts in support of student success.
Salary highly competitive, depending on qualifications.
