USI Study Abroad Ambassador Scholarship

For all approved study abroad programs which award USI credit USI Study Abroad Ambassador Scholarship 2017 Scholarship award:  $2,000 for one academic year  $1,500 for one semester  $1,000 for summer and short-term programs (which award USI credit)

Eligibility:  Open to all USI students who have been accepted in a USI study abroad program and will receive USI credit during the program;  Recipients must enroll in USI during the fall or spring semester following their study abroad program and complete the study abroad ambassador projects outlined in their application within 6 months.

Program Requirements: Study Abroad Ambassadors are responsible for promoting study abroad opportunities to the USI community during the semester immediately following the program.

1. All study abroad ambassadors will prepare a poster presentation at the Study Abroad Forum (during USI International Week in spring, or National International Education Week in fall)

2. In addition, ambassadors will choose another project designed to increase interest in study abroad/international educational exchange: o Examples include: . Present on the study abroad experience to faculty, advisors and staff from the recipient’s college at a “lunch and learn” program; . Create promotional material about his/her experiences, such as a poster, flyer, website, banner, which can be used by Center for International Programs; . Serve as a peer adviser in Center for International Programs . Other opportunities

Part 1: Consider Mark Twain’s view on travel. Why did you decide to study abroad? How do you expect your mindset to change as a result of studying abroad? Please indicate why you would like to be a study abroad ambassador and describe your project for promoting study abroad to the USI community. What qualities, skills, and experiences have prepared you to serve in this capacity? How do you plan to promote study abroad when you return to campus?

Part 2: Describe your specific project. Who is the target audience and how will you reach them? What impact will your project have on this group and how will your project interest these students in international education and/or encourage them to study abroad? What arrangements will be necessary to carry out the project? Are there methods you can utilize, such as power point presentations, slide shows, websites, blogs, photos, etc. that can assist you in achieving your project goals?
