Dennis F. Miller Vice President for North America and Scientific Advisor to the President Mr. Miller has more than 25 years of experience in science and technology, national security issues, waste management, energy and environmental systems. In the private sector, he was Director, Systems R&D, EG&G, Inc., and its successor Lockheed Martin Idaho Operations, while with the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory. In that capacity, he was Science Advisor to the Assistant Secretary, Environmental Management, U.S. Department of Energy. For 10 years, he was Executive Director, Energy Engineering Board, National Academy of Sciences. In 1992, he was appointed Science Advisor, U.S. Delegation to the UN Conference on Environment and Development, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the public sector, he was Energy Advisor to the Chairman, Subcommittee on Energy, Environment and Natural Resources, U.S. House of Representatives, and earlier Executive Director, Office of Technology Assessment’s Advisory Council, U.S. Congress. In addition, he was a technical consultant to the U.S. National Science Foundation, and later scientific consultant to the Organization of American States. As a Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army’s Medical Service Corps, the Army Reserve, he was an environmental scientist. In March, 2006, he received a Fulbright Grant to teach at the University of Lanus, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mr. Miller received an A.M., Biological Sciences and History and Philosophy of Science, The University of Chicago; M.A., History of Physics, Ohio State University; B.A., Ohio State University, Science Studies. At the University of Chicago, he was a Doctoral Fellow in Biology, Center for Urban Studies. Later, he was an Adjunct Professor, University of Maryland. He has authored and coauthored more than 100 published papers and reports.
