Description: This course is an introduction to the language and culture of German speaking countries. Emphasis will be on listening to spoken German, learning to speak conversational German, studying the basics of grammar and pronunciation, reading and some writing. An oral approach is used in this course. It should be noted that because this course does meet for at least 70 minutes Monday through Friday, upon successful completion of German 1, the student will earn 1 full credit in one semester. Origination Site: Lourdes High School Course Name: German 2 Description: A continuation of German 1, the goal of this two term, one credit course if for students to achieve the basic survival skills in the German language through verbal communication and appropriate social interaction. Effective communication skills and grammar will be emphasized with an increased focus on German culture and history. Students who do not pass the first 9 weeks may not continue for the remainder of the course. It should be noted that because this course does meet for at least 70 minutes Monday through Friday, upon successful completion of German 2, the student will earn 1 full credit in one semester. Origination Site: Oshkosh Lourdes High School Course Name: German 3 Description: Emphasis will be placed on advanced grammar, vocabulary and conversation. Oral interpretation will also be emphasized. Students will read short stories in German. Students who do not pass the first 9 weeks may not continue for the remainder of the course. It should be noted that because this course does meet for at least 70 minutes Monday through Friday, upon successful completion of German 3, the student will earn 1 full credit in one semester.
