Explanation of Band Fees
Band Shoes: All woodwind, brass, and percussion members must wear the official marching shoes. Students are measured for shoes during band camp. Returning members must bring their marching shoes to uniform check-out to verify status of shoe. Only the approved marching shoes can be worn during marching band events. Band T-Shirt: All marching band members, including Tigerettes and Majorettes, must purchase the Band T-Shirt. The shirt is designed to compliment the current year’s marching half-time show. You may order more than one shirt if you choose. Please order the correct size shirt, as we do not change sizes once they have been ordered. Gloves: Pick one style of glove. If you play flute or clarinet, you will need fingerless gloves. All other woodwinds and brass should select either plain or grip gloves. The grip gloves have rubber grip on the palm side to aide in carriage of the instrument. The choice is yours! Shorts: All woodwind, brass, and percussion members are required to purchase the marching band shorts. They are “gym” type shorts that have the band logo on the leg. They are uni-sex and they are the only approved shorts for marching band events. Poncho: All students are responsible for having a poncho with them whenever the band is in uniform. The poncho covers the uniform and protects the instrument and the uniform from damage. Socks: All woodwind, brass, and percussion members in uniform are required to wear black socks. The socks are solid black and come to the calf. Ankle socks are not acceptable. The socks that we purchase are designed to go with the band shoes. Band Bag: The only bag that can go to the stands with you! This duffle bag has plenty of storage for all your band needs and is easy to carry. It also has the band logo. While this item is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended. Band Cap: This is an optional item. The cap is a baseball style cap that has the Troup “T” on the front and Troup Tiger Band across the adjustment strap in the back. This is the only hat allowed in the stands if we are not wearing our uniform hats. Instrument Rental Fee: Any member that is using school owned equipment is required to pay the rental fee. This includes mellophone, bass clarinet, bari sax, baritone, tuba, and any percussion instruments. This fee goes to maintenance of the instrument. This is a very small price to pay considering the price to purchase your own instrument. Band Fee: The band fee is paid by all members of the marching band. This fee goes towards the general expenses of the band. This helps to pay for the marching music, the drill, the instructors, and several other items that are necessary to keep the program running. The band fee is due on the first day of band camp. Payment: We accept money orders or checks. Please make all checks payable to THS Band. There is a $20 fee on all returned checks. PLEASE DO NOT PAY CASH FOR BAND FEES. All payments should be put in an envelope and labeled with the student’s name. Checks and money order should have the student’s name on the memo line.
