Marymount School Digital Media Contract Initial the following expectations after you have read and understand what is being asked of you. Laptop Use _____ I may only use the laptop in class for school-related tasks. Non-academic activities on the laptop, including games, videos, music, and entertainment websites are prohibited during the school day. _____ I am expected to handle the equipment with great care and respect and to pay for repairs, or replace damaged equipment, determined to be due to carelessness or inappropriate use.

Security _____ I will not alter the formatting or appearance of school laptops or download any applications onto a Marymount laptop without appropriate licensing

Access to Computers, Files, and Information • Students are not permitted to access or alter any file created by another person unless that person has given explicit permission to do so. _____ I will not create files on the school network or on school computers that contain obscene, illicit, or otherwise offensive content.

Internet Access and Use _____ I will not access websites related to gambling, violence, pornography, illegal substances, or any other website or category of websites that is illegal at the local, state or federal level, or that is deemed inappropriate, offensive and restricted by the Technology Department. _____ I will not provide personal information, such as addresses, telephone numbers, personal photos, etc. when using the Internet. _____ I will not subscribe to, nor participate in, social networking sites, chat rooms, instant messaging, public blogs, or bulletin board services while at school unless specifically directed to do so by a teacher. _____ I will not communicate with other students using electronic devices during school hours except as part of a specific teacher directed assignment. All communication will be respectful and comply with civil standards including politeness and proper language. _____ I understand that I must have the permission of anyone placed in a photo or video. Students may not distribute photos, videos, e-mails, of other students or teachers without their permission.

Email Use _____ I will not use their personal or school email accounts to send messages that are threatening, harassing, obscene, or otherwise inappropriate. _____ I will not access any other individual’s email account. _____ I will not share their passwords with other students for any reason.

Legal Compliance _____I will not impersonate another person. _____ I will not use school resources to engage in any form of plagiarism, as defined in the Student Handbook.

Equipment Use _____ I will not access computer preferences, invert colors, affect system fonts, or modify the dock in any way. Students may not move any applications.

iPad and Personal Device Policies From here after iPad will refer to personal devices as well. _____ My iPad use will not interfere with my and others' learning. During instructional activities, electronic communication is to be focused solely on the activity at hand. No non-school related e-communication is allowed during the school day. _____ I understand that I must have the permission of anyone placed in a photo or video. _____ I understand that teacher permission must be given before using the Internet. _____ I understand that I have no privacy rights in the use of my iPad. Marymount representatives may inspect and, if they deem necessary confiscate, any student’s iPad at any time without prior notice. _____ I am prohibited from sharing this password with anyone else except my parents or guardians. _____ I will not attempt to disable, disrupt or bypass network settings as they are a violation of this policy. _____ I will protect and carry the iPad around school in its case, treat it gently at all times, and will not leave the iPad unattended or exposed to the weather. _____ During free times at school such as recess, lunch or after school, the iPad should be put away and not in use.
