Draft Program Outline Trade Mission to South Africa and Botswana March 3rd – 16th, 2011

Africa now – a world of business opportunities! Join this mission led by the Australia Africa Business Council (Vic) and sponsored by the Victorian Government’s Department of Innovation Industry & Regional Development (DIIRD) and supported by Austrade, DFAT to expand your business reach into a continent that is relatively untapped and emerging as part of the big economic picture.

Africa is a continent of 53 nations, with almost a billion people, some of the richest mineral resources on earth and an entrepreneurial business culture. As approximately 200 million Africans enter the consumer goods market by 2015, banking and telecommunications grow rapidly and infrastructure expenditures increase exponentially. We invite you to be part of this economic development.

New Global Markets for Victorian Companies The trade mission will take place in March 2011 from Thursday 3rd – Tuesday 15th. The mission will capitalise on and expand Australia’s trade and investment with Africa via a hard-nosed business-to- business experience balanced with networking activities connecting to cultural and social understanding that is vital to doing business.

Key Partners Over the past two years, the following organisations have worked with the AABC to build awareness, development relationships and promote business to business activity between the two continents. About the mission The mission will showcase, profile and connect Victoria’s trade and investment strengths across a range of key industry sectors including: Advanced manufacture; Agribusiness; Education; Energy; Financial and legal services; ICT and design; Mining and mining services; Tourism (including events management); Transport/infrastructure

The key activities will include:  Business matching  Government department briefings: focus on market entry strategies, BEE regulatory and legal requirements and government procurement and preferred supplier opportunities.  Industry site visits  Industry forums and showcases  Cultural and social network program

About the program The program has a number of elements that will challenge and meet the needs of the diverse market interests. Participants can select from the staged options; however, we recommend that companies select the entire Botswana and South Africa experience.

Costs and Participation Fee Participants will be required to manage their travel; however, it is essential to book the Johannesburg – Kasani flight as early as possible because of comparative infrequency.

Travel, accommodation, meals and cultural and environmental activities in Chobe National Park (Botswana) will be at the cost of participants.

Hospitality offered by Austrade Johannesburg, BEDIA Botswana, Austrade, DTI South Africa and Monash University, Johannesburg will be free of charge.

AABC (Vic), DIIRD and Austrade shall not be liable for any loss arising from the cancellation or changes to the date/time of any scheduled events.

Deposit: The AABC (Vic) requires a non-refundable 30% deposit of $516 for the Program and Service Fee seven days from invoice date. Payment of the deposit reserves your place on the Mission; however, this will be fully secured once the entire amount is paid.
