Adult Education and Literacy Advisory Committee Discussion Paper 1 2 Background 3 Senate Bill (SB) 307, 83rd Texas Legislature, Regular Session (2013), requires the Texas 4 Workforce Commission (TWC) to establish an Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) advisory 5 committee. The advisory committee must comprise no more than nine members, including at 6 least one representative of the business community and one representative of a Local Workforce 7 Development Board (Board). 8 9 Issue 10 In fall 2017, two advisory committee members tendered their resignations. TWC’s three-member 11 Commission must select new members for the current vacancies. On October 31, 2017, the 12 Commission approved David Barron as an advisory committee member.
