SIT Meeting Notes August 2013 Present:
Jennifer Parker, Letty Terrazas, Michelle Olivas, Tencha Baca, Phyllis Sully, Terry Kyle, Liliana Jaurrieta, Olga Terrazas, Nancy Maytorena, Art Escajeda, Valerie Ramirez, Lisa Lopez and Elvira Vasquez.
2013-2014 Roles and responsibilities
Budget:
2013-2014 - Based on 950 enrollment. We are at 1184, budget will be adjusted in November. So far, $44,287.82 spent on Custodial supplies, rentals, printers and ink, staff development and general supplies.
Community:
Safety – intruder drill, campus members will be escorting visitors to places, safety issues discussed– teacher badges, lobby guard, visitor badges, review all safety drills with students.
AR – Reading Goals presented, grade level minimums set, individual goals can be set in library or with class. Goals can be based on AR books and non-AR books. When goal is reached at the end of nine weeks, names will be placed on banner above classroom doors.
Instruction:
Assessment Week– Science and math during August 26, ELAR on Sept. 6
Tutoring – starts in September for identified Special Education and Bilingual students only, T & W, 3rd – 5th .
Intersession Sept. 30 – October 3 (8:00 – 11:00) – 3rd- 5th, identify teachers who will teach and turn into Ms. Parker. Student selection should include retained or placed students, those that failed on progress reports, STAAR data, attendance committee recommendations.
Book-it Program- ordered for whole school. Pizza coupons from Pizza Hut for those that meet their reading goals.

Technology – Hector Reyna, Miguel Moreno – all teachers will receive Tablet by November.

Team Share:
K - Can we get parent volunteers to help during Kinder lunch? Attendance – can we sign 1 sheet a week, instead of signing daily? Friday sheet only? Email Ms. Parker with work orders that have not gotten resolved within in reason, or email when you put in a request
1st – Nothing
2nd - Can air filters be changed more frequently? Parker will check it out. Collection of BOY paperwork – can we create a system for collection? Boxes in office for collection when class is complete. Olga will send checklist again. Lonestar – district purchased online Lonestar Math for every teacher K – 7th grade.
3rd – Nothing
4th – Paper, can we get more? Yes – ask Ms. Parker. Folders for writing process- do we have to use those folders or whatever system 4th teachers use? As long as you have a writing process, it’s ok.
5th – Nothing, science labs are good.
SPED – Elevator safety, no ice chests in front of elevator, don’t hold open doors open, Nancy will chat with breakfast club kids about safety. Fire drill safety for teachers if you are upstairs and have kids on crutches, talk to Fred Doreck. Email speech teacher, Amanda Paredez, with speech concerns.
Counselors – Watch D.O.G.S.- great response, please let Ellie and Art, Nurse, and Admin know about injuries to a child if your suspect abuse.
Parents – traffic, please send a letter home about traffic.
Volunteers – can we have laminating days designated so we don’t waste laminating film? Tuesdays and Thursdays. Be thinking about Fall Festival booth ideas now.

Each class assign 1 student to return ice chests to cafeteria after breakfast, Nancy will run elevator.
