C H A M P I O N S H I P C O N D I T I O N S
All Championships shall be called "Kent Schools' Championships" and shall be conducted annually. The Swimming and Diving Championships shall be held under A.S.A. Laws and the Life Saving Championships will follow the Rules and Regulations governing the Life Saving Championships of the R.L.S.S. United Kingdom. All arrangements shall be approved by the Executive Committee.
S W I M M I N G C H A M P I O N S H I P S
Secondary Schools' Championships
1. These championships shall be confined to pupils from Schools which are in current affiliation with the K.S.S.A.
2. All competitors must be on the school roll on the day of the Championships.
3. Entries shall be made on the official entry form of the Association and must be returned bearing the School Stamp to the Swimming Championships Secretary by the official closing date.
4. It is a condition of entry that a teacher or responsible adult accompanies each School's competitors as Team Manager.
5. Entry fees for all championships shall be decided at the September meeting of the Executive Committee for the following year.
6. At the discretion of the Executive Committee, Awards will be made to all finalists who have completed their event without disqualification..
7. a) The following events for both boys and girls will be held :
Individual events of 100M in all four strokes 4 x 2 lengths Individual Medley in 25 metre pools; or 4 x 1 length in 50 metre pools. 4 x 2 lengths Freestyle and Medley Teams in 25 metre pools or 4 x 1 length in 50 metre pools.
b) Age groups for both boys and girls are as follows:
&JUNIOR aged 11 years and under 13 years (years 7 & 8)
INTERMEDIATE aged 13 years and under 15 years (years 9 & 10)
SENIOR aged 15 years and under 19 years (years11, 12 & 13)
Age limits for all events shall be as at midnight on 31st August/1st September in the year of competition.
c) Each school shall be limited to TWO competitors for each Individual event and ONE Team for each team event.
d) A competitor may enter TWO individual events and TWO team events. e) Only substitute Swimmers due to illness of entered Swimmer will be accepted on the Gala day, and this must be made 45 minutes before Session start time and in writing from the school.
f) Substitute Swimmers after entry closing date must be e-mailed to Championship Secretary 72 hours prior to date of competition, giving full details of the substitute Swimmer.
NO OTHER CHANGES ON GALA DATE WILL BE ACCEPTED.
f) SWIMMERS for Individual events MUST sign in at the appropriate Stewards table at least 30 minutes prior to the commencement of each Gala session.
g) TEAM MANAGERS must sign in for each Team Event that their school has entered at the appropriate Stewards table at least 30 minutes prior to the commencement of each Gala session.
h) SWIMMERS MUST report to the Competitors Stewards as directed by the Announcer at event.
Primary Schools' Championships

8. Individual events of 50 metres in all four strokes for both boys and girls.
9. Mixed 4 x 1 length Medley Relay (Backstroke, Breaststroke,Butterfly, Freestyle).
10. The following events shall be held for pupils from years 5 & 6 ONLY:
a) Boys 4 x 1 length Freestyle Relay & Girls 4 x 1 length Freestyle Relay
b) Boys 4 x 1 length Mixed Stroke Relay & Girls 4 x 1 length Mixed Stroke Relay (Mixed Stroke relay – backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly or breaststroke, freestyle)
c) Small Schools Freestyle and Mixed Stroke Relay (ONLY for schools now defined by ESSA as having no more IN TOTAL than 50 pupils in Years 5 and 6 combined). Any mix. Competitors in these events may NOT compete in the boys and girls Mixed Stroke and Freestyle Relays. Swimming order for the Mixed Stroke event is:- Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle (any stroke), Frontcrawl.
d) Each school shall be limited to ONE competitor for each Individual event and ONE Team for each team event.
e) A competitor may enter ONE Individual event and Team events.
f) Only substitute Swimmers due to illness of entered Swimmer will be accepted on the Gala day, and this must be made 45 minutes before Session start time and in writing from the school.

The items in yellow above have been revised from 2016. There are now team events (free and medley) for small schools, medium sized schools and “Open” (usually large schools). For details of pupil numbers please see the ESSA website. The team events are for pupils in years 5&6 only. Younger swimmers may swim in the individual events.
