Course Description: How is technology used to solve business problems and communicate solutions? Business and Technology is designed to prepare students with the knowledge and skills to be an asset to the collaborative, global, and innovative business world of today and tomorrow. Mastery use of spreadsheets and the ability to apply leadership skills to make informed business decisions will be a highlight of this course for students. Publishing industry appropriate documents to model effective communication and leadership will be demonstrated through project based learning. Students will use spreadsheet and database software to manage data while analyzing, organizing and sharing data through visually appealing presentation.

GRADING SYSTEM: The DeKalb County School District believes that the teacher shall conduct the most important assessment of student learning as he/she observes and evaluates students in the context of ongoing classroom instruction. A variety of approaches, methodologies, and resources shall be used to deliver educational services and to maximize each student’s opportunity to succeed. Teachers shall evaluate student progress, report grades that represent the student’s academic achievement, and communicate official academic progress to students and parents in a timely manner through the electronic grading portal. See Board Policy IHA.
DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS FOR SUCCESS STUDENT Semester progress reports shall be issued four and a half, nine PROGRESS and thirteen and a half weeks into each semester. The progress of students shall be evaluated frequently and plans shall be generated to remediate deficiencies as they are discovered. Plans shall include appropriate interventions designed to meet the needs of the students. See Board Policy IH. ACADEMIC Students will not engage in an act of academic dishonesty INTEGRITY including, but not limited to, cheating, providing false information, falsifying school records, forging signatures, or using an unauthorized computer user ID or password. See the Code of Student Conduct - Student Rights and Responsibilities and Character Development Handbook. HOMEWORK Homework assignments should be meaningful and should be an application or adaptation of a classroom experience. Homework is at all times an extension of the teaching/learning experience. It should be considered the possession of the student and should be collected, evaluated and returned to the students. See Board Policy IHB. MAKE-UP WORK When a student is absent because of a legal reason as defined by DUE TO Georgia law or when the absence is apparently beyond the ABSENCES control of the student, the student shall be given an opportunity to earn grade(s) for those days absent. Make-up work must be completed within the designated time allotted. See Board Policy IHEA.
2 SCHOOL EXPECTATIONS FOR SUCCESS CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS 1. Come to class prepared to work with pen/pencil and paper. 2. Respect yourself, your peers, and your teacher. 3. Pick up your Binder/Folder and bring the instructor your disciplinary card. 4. Sit at your work station and log into your computer 5. The first 10-15 minutes for warm-up activity and classroom instruction. 6. Please sit quietly to hear your instructions and standards will be addressed for the activity. 7. Utilize your time to complete this class’s Work/Projects 8. Save work/Log Off Computer 9. Return your Binder/Folder 10. Receive Disciplinary Cards MATERIALS AND Pen/Pencil SUPPLIES USB Drive Binder Dividers EXTRA HELP Individual Tutorials will be available to students.
