PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
1.02 SECTION INCLUDES
A. Roof scuttle, solid cover with prefabricated curb.
1. Mounted in modified bituminuous flat roofing. 2. Mounted in sloping sheet metal roofing.

1.04 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's technical product data, rough-in diagrams, details, installation instructions and general product recommendations.
B. Coordination Drawings: Roof plans, drawn to scale, and coordinating penetrations and roof-mounted items. Show the following:
1. Size and location of roof accessories specified in this Section. 2. Method of attaching roof accessories to roof or building structure. 3. Other roof-mounted items including mechanical and electrical equipment, ductwork, piping, and conduit. 4. Coordinate layout and installation of roof accessories with roofing membrane and base flashing, and interfacing and adjoining construction to provide a leakproof, weathertight, secure, and noncorrosive installation. 5. With Architect's approval, adjust location of roof accessories that interfere with mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems.

1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Construction/Operation - FM labeled. B. Fire Resistance of Lids - UL Class "A". C. Standards: Comply with SMACNA (Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractor's National Association) "Architectural Sheet Metal Manual" details for fabrication of units, including flanges and capflashing to coordinate with type of roofing indicated. Comply with "NRCA Roofing and Waterproofing Manual" details for installation of units. D. Field Measurements: Verify required openings for each type of roof accessory by field measurements before fabrication and indicate measurements on Shop Drawings.

2.02 ROOF HATCH FOR LADDER ACCESS
A. Prefabricated roof scuttles shall be similar to Bilco Co., Type "D", 60 inches x 72 inches(1524 x 1828mm), including insulated curb with roof flanges, insulating doors, and all standard hardware, with insulated aluminum cover.
B. General: Fabricate units of sizes shown, double-leaf type unless otherwise indicated, for 40 lbs./sq.ft.(195kg/sq.m) internal loading pressure.
1. Frame with 12 inches(305mm) high integral-curb double-wall construction with 1inch (25mm)insulation, cant strips and cap flashing(roofing counter-flashing), with welded or sealed mechanical corner joints. 2. Provide double-wall cover (lid) construction with 1 inch(25.4mm) insulation core. 3. Equip units with complete hardware set including hold-open devices, interior padlock hasps, and both interior and exterior latch handles. 4. Provide gasketing. 5. Curb shall be equipped with 3-1/2 inch (89mm)flange for securing to roof deck. 6. On ribbed or fluted metal roofs, form flange at perimeter bottom to conform to roof profile. 7. Sloping roofs: where slope of roof deck exceeds 1:48, fabricate hatch curb with height tapered to maintain a level top of unit.
C. Roof scuttle shall be constructed of 11 gage(0.093inch)(2.3mm) aluminum with 18 gage(0.042inch(1mm) cover liner.

D. Finish for Aluminum: color to match color of sheet metal roof.
2.07 MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS AND ACCESSORIES
A. Fasteners: Same metal as metals being fastened, or non-magnetic stainless steel or other noncorrosive metal as recommended by manufacturer. Match finish of exposed fasteners with finish of material being fastened.
B. Where removal of exterior exposed fasteners affords access to building, provide nonremovable fastener heads.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 INSTALLATION
A. Comply with manufacturer's instructions and recommendations. Coordinate with installation of roof deck and other substrates to receive accessory units, and with vapor barriers, roof insulation, roofing and flashing; as required to ensure that each element of the work performs properly, and that combined elements are waterproof and weathertight. Anchor units securely to supporting structural substrates, adequate to withstand lateral and thermal stresses as well as inward and outward loading pressures.
B. Except as otherwise indicated install roof accessory items in accordance with construction details of "NRCA Roofing and Waterproofing Manual".
C. Isolation: Where metal surfaces of units are to be installed in contact with noncompatible metal or corrosive substrates, including wood, apply bituminous coating on concealed metal surfaces, or provide other permanent separation.
D. Flange Seals: Except as otherwise indicated, secure flanges of accessory units to roof deck and deck opening framing.
E. Cap Flashing: Cap flashing is required as component of accessory. Install to provide adequate waterproof overlap with roofing or roof flashing (as counter flashing).
F. Operational Units: Test operate units with operable components. Clean and lubricate joints and hardware. Adjust for proper operation.
3.02 ROOF HATCH INSTALLATION
A. Check roof hatch for proper operation.
B. Adjust operating mechanism as required.
C. Clean and lubricate joints and hardware.

3.03 CLEANING AND PROTECTION
A. Clean exposed metal and plastic surfaces in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Touch up damaged metal coatings. END OF SECTION
