How to Make Group Counseling More Effective July 15-16, 2004 Program Purpose More and more comprehensive counseling programs include group counseling. Clinicians being asked to lead groups express a need for making their groups more interesting and beneficial. It has been said that group counseling is much harder than individual, couple or family counseling because of the more complex dynamics involved. This two day workshop will focus on practical, down-to-earth skills and techniques that can be applied to all groups. Dr. Jacobs will help participants have a much greater sense of how to make group time more effective. Information will be given about how to set up groups, common leadership mistakes, how to plan groups, and much more. Many demonstrations will be presented showing leadership skills, techniques, and the use of counseling theories in group settings. Participants will also learn new group exercises and how to take those exercises to a much deeper level.
