(10) Tell me what the kids actually had for lunch. (Answer) Hamburgers, french fries, and chocolate chip cookies. (Follow Up) Do you think their cafeteria lady is pretty cool? Activities
1. Make up a menu of your own. Be creative. Draw and label the food.
2. Make a list of all the strange things that the kids thought would either be in their food or what the foods were called.
3. Write a thank you-you note to Ms. Belch thanking her for all the good food that she fixed them.

Introductions
1. Show the child the cover of the book. Discuss with the child what’s going on. Let’s read a book about a school that is getting a new cafeteria lady that the kids think will kill them all.
2. Have a school menu sitting out. Ask them if they ever wondered if the cafeteria lady puts anything strange in their food. Let’s read a story where the kids think the new cafeteria lady is putting strange things in their food.
3. Ask the child if their cafeteria lady’s are nice. Today we are going to read a story about a school that is getting a new cafeteria lady.
