The “ROC” Spirit Award Nomination Form

The Pitt Alumni Association has established the "ROC" Spirit award to recognize an individual for their outstanding enthusiasm, loyalty, pride and spirit in support of the University of Pittsburgh. The Spirit Award is named in honor of ROC, the University's beloved Panther Mascot who demonstrates these qualities and characteristics while representing the University each and every day of the year. Eligible individuals include an Alumnus and/or undergraduate student with senior- class status.

Selection Criteria

• Candidates must be degreed alumni or current students of the University of Pittsburgh who are at least of senior class standing upon nomination. If a deserving alumnus and student are selected, up to two awards may be given annually (provided that one is a student and one is a degreed alumnus).

Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of: • A genuine respect of the University's traditions and a commitment to enhance the traditions • Demonstrated service to the University of Pittsburgh • Demonstrated leadership and involvement, on campus and or in their community. • Gives freely of their time in promoting Pitt spirit and pride • Has a positive impact on peers and inspires others to demonstrate similar Pitt spirit and pride • Creates a sense of pride through their actions in support of Pitt

COMPLETING A NOMINATION:  Access this nomination form online at www.alumni.pitt.edu/alumni/awards/nominate/   You can complete the form on your computer or print out a hard copy and complete the form manually.  If you choose to complete it online, save the completed nomination form by selecting “SAVE AS” and save it to your computer with the name of the nominee in the file name.  Send the saved document as an attachment to Gary Pollock ([email protected]).  If you wish to submit any additional documents, such as a biographical sketch, resume, c.v., article, etc., you may also attach them to the email, or send them to the address or fax listed below. Completed nomination forms must be submitted by the due date outlined on the Awards Nominate web page. AFTER SUBMISSION:  Receipt of your nomination will be confirmed within one day.  You will be notified of the selected recipients in late April.  The awardees will be honored at a luncheon hosted by the Pitt Alumni Association in May.
