Job Title: Head of Operations
Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer
Responsible for: Community athletics across Wales, Operational management of Head office functions
Key interface with: WA General Council, Regional Athletic Councils, WA members, WA Staff Team, Sport Wales
Location: Cardiff International Sports Stadium
Responsibilities: Community athletics and the athletics workforce, liaison with community athletics volunteers across Wales, in regions and clubs
Welsh Athletics administration, governance, human resources and financial administration
Overall Purpose of the role: To drive and implement the strategies supporting community athletics in Wales and to manage the head office functions supporting the organisation
Key Responsibilities: To drive WA’s response to the Sport Wales Community Sport strategy, including development of the athletics workforce and delivery through the athletics networks across Wales To act as the key point-of-contact for the General Council To ensure the smooth operation of WA’s governance structures To ensure best practice in the management, administration and accountability of the governing body to its members and partners To manage the external and internal reporting process including governance self-assurance and WA’s organisational self-assessment To monitor key targets and to drive the continuous improvement in WA operations to achieve those targets To develop WA’s communication strategy To lead on risk management and business continuity To assume budget responsibility for delegated areas To assume responsibility for additional projects commissioned by the Board of Welsh Athletics To manage the cycle of activity supporting the AGM To manage and maintain all corporate policies and procedures To assume responsibility for Human Resources, setting and managing a performance review process and schedule for all staff To ensure due focus is given to continuous personal development plans for all staff To line manage the lead officers of the relevant functional areas To lead on Equality, Welfare and Safeguarding and Disability and Inclusion To uphold the organisational values of Welsh Athletics and to ensure the motivation, productivity and welfare of the staff team PERSONAL PROFILE LEADERSHIP Inspires confidence. Displays sound numeracy and an understanding of basic financial control principles. Experience of working with budgets, including variance reporting and forecasts etc would be an advantage.
SPECIFIC Willing to work irregular hours on occasions, including REQUIREMENTS weekend work.

JOB TITLE Head of Operations
SALARY Circa £40,000 per annum depending on experience
TENURE Permanent contract
ANNUAL PAID HOLIDAY 25 days plus 8 Statutory Bank Holidays
HOURS Full Time - 37 hours per week
A flexible approach to working hours is required as evening and weekend working may be involved
OTHER BENEFITS Pension Plan with company contributions currently equivalent to 10% of annual salary (after successful probationary period)
