JOB TITLE: Multimedia Communications Intern DEPARTMENT: Marketing and Communications

LOCATION: Student Centre, Engineshed REPORTS TO: Marketing Manager

SALARY : £14, 061 pro rata per annum POST DATE: March 2012 REFERENCE: C10412

Context This internship is designed to help the Students’ Union promote its services to students, using current technology and social media techniques to reach a wider spectrum of students.

The Students’ Union supports and represents the students of the University of Lincoln, Student leaders are elected by the student body and supported by the staff expertise to deliver services and represent student needs to enhance the experience of all students at the University of Lincoln

This graduate internship is a recently developed, fixed-term 11-month position, designed to support a recent graduate with to develop their experience and skills. The role will require appropriate interaction with students and Union staff.

Job Purpose The primary purpose of the role is to develop our web presence to deliver a variety of communications campaigns. You will use social media, print materials and webspace to increase students’ awareness and use of the Students’ Union and its services/activities.

The role will support the work of the Students’ Union to extend the reach and consistency of promotional activity.

This role will give the graduate intern an opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the areas of communications, website development and promotion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibility 1

Work with the Students’ Union Executive team to identify and deliver a Freshers’ Week ‘campaign’ project. Key Responsibility 2

To research, devise, plan and implement a social media communications strategy to effectively deliver Union messages to the target audiences. Key Responsibility 3

Develop student led mini-sites by offering training and support to student users. Key Responsibility 4

Support the development of the website and the implementation of campaigns using web technology Key Responsibility 5

In addition, undertake such duties as may reasonably be requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.
