“ CULTURE-EDUCATION-GLOBALIZATION” Exploration of Student- Teacher Relationship First Nations and World Perspectives (April 14, 2016, Best Western Plus Winnipeg Airport, 1715 Wellington, 9:00 am -4:30 pm)

How does one negotiate and thrive in a societal context that is increasingly characterized by localization and globalization. How does one reconcile values and outlook –culture, identity, tradition and language- with the demands springing from the global economic and social-arena?

The Forum is also designed as a platform to promote exchange of ideas between First Nations and other groupings in the larger Canadian society. It is about building the basis upon which collaboration and partnerships can take place.

Some Ideas for Consideration  Education and its role in addressing and/or negotiating the external context.  Understanding the teacher-student relationship in different cultural contexts.  Is being successful in the 21st century society and economy inimical to culture/identity?  Negotiating the context at all levels- self/individual, family and community. Here, we can consider the idea of identity, culture and language
