UTA contributes to DocStop

 €3,000 to support the association  Development of en-route medical care for professional drivers

Kleinostheim – 13th July 2016. UNION TANK Eckstein GmbH & Co. KG (UTA) is contributing to the DocStop für Europäer (DocStop – DocStop for Europeans) initiative this year too, with a donation amounting to €3,000. The association promotes better en-route medical care for professional drivers. The symbolic presentation of the cheque took place during the 31st International ADAC Truck Grand Prix at the Nürburgring.

“DocStop is an important initiative that we have already been supporting for nine years,” says Volker Huber, UTA’s CEO. “Our donation is intended to contribute to DocStop’s great service, which enables drivers to receive en-route medical treatment and then drive on safely.” Because it is often a big challenge for truck drivers with health issues to locate both a doctor and the required parking place for their vehicle in an unfamiliar city.

UTA contributes to DocStop not only through regular donations but also through its own initiative: both the UTA Station Finder and the UTA app quickly route drivers seeking assistance to the closest DocStop station, where they can park their truck and receive direct medical assistance or be referred to a nearby doctor for prompt treatment. DocStop points of contact include filling stations, rest areas, service areas and haulage companies, as well as doctors with various specialisations and hospitals.

“Drivers’ health is an issue close to UTA’s heart, which additionally contributes to safety on our roads,” says Volker Huber. UTA signed the European Road Safety Charter more than seven years ago and contributes to the action programme for reducing the number of road fatalities.
