LOCAL SCHOOL GOVERNANCE TEAM MEETING

Meeting Minutes

12/08/2016

The Norman Park Elementary Local School Governance Team met on Thursday, December 8th, 2016, at 12:00 pm. The meeting was held at Norman Park Elementary School, 249 Weeks Street, Norman Park, Georgia, in room 206.

Stacey Rutledge, Wendy Stuckey, Rodney Hurst, Rhonda Kelley, Jennifer Key, Michelle Daniels, and Heather Roberts

7 members were present, representing a quorum

1. Call to Order

- Principal, Stacey Rutledge, called the meeting to order at 12:05 pm.

2. Items from the Audience

- No items brought forth from the Audience.

3. Approval of Agenda

- Stacey Rutledge distributed the agenda and read through its contents.

- The December 8th, 2016 agenda was approved by unanimous consent.

4. Approval of Minutes

- Wendy Stuckey read the Meeting Minutes from the October 13th, 2016 meeting.

- The October 13th, 2016 LSGT Meeting Minutes were approved by unanimous consent. 5. Principal’s Report

- Mr. Rutledge reviewed personnel announcements and informed the committee that Mrs. Terri Bridges and Mrs. Sandy Rutledge will be contracted through Title I funds to provide intervention services to students at Norman Park Elementary.

- Mr. Rutledge discussed Finance and Resource Allocations with the committee. He explained that Administration has put together a list of needs for Norman Park School using the Title I budget and Title I carryover budget. A portion of the United Way funds raised by the schools this year will be returning back to the schools. Norman Park has purchased Chrome books for grades 3-5 to use inside the classrooms. Maintenance funds have increased for the 2016-2017 school year.

- Curriculum and Instruction were briefly discussed. Middle of the Year benchmark testing is currently underway. Data from the Dibels Next Literacy assessment has shown a positive progression of student improvement. PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) has been adopted county wide as a means to support schools and students with positive behavior changing strategies. These strategies will be introduced to students and faculty during a January fine arts program. Mr. Rutledge quickly reviewed CEIS Plan progress and how the interventions are being implemented amongst grades. A Corrective Reading Coach will be visiting Norman Park Elementary to ensure and model accurate administration and implementation of this intervention.

- CCRPI results were discussed with the committee. Norman Park’s total score has dropped close to 5 points. This trend was noted among most other schools, as well as with the state score.

- Lastly, Mr. Rutledge reports on current School Operations. Story Telling day was a success, as was the Veteran’s Day Program. Norman Park fieldtrips to sing Christmas Carols will take place this week and next week. Pancake and Pajama day will be on the last day of school before winter break.
