2005 Summer School- Important Visa Information

The purpose of this information is to allow The Pennsylvania State University to collect the necessary information to smoothly and efficiently the details of your upcoming visit to our institution.

International participants arriving from outside the United States will need a B-1 or WB (visa waiver business classification); B-2 or WT ( visa waiver tourist classification).

NOTE: Currently, only 27 countries participate in the Visa Waiver Program. Canadian citizens do not generally require visa, but please read carefully the instructions in the above Department of State web site.

At the port of entry in the United States, your I-94 Arrival/Departure record card will be stamped by an immigration officer. Once you arrive at Penn State University, you must provide us with a copy of the I-94 card and copy of your passport so that your lodging expenses can be covered. Additionally, you will be required to complete other paperwork for payment of lodging expenses.

Foreign Nationals currently working or visiting in the United States must bring with them their I-94 card, passport and other valid visa documents in order for Penn State University to cover lodging expenses. Additionally, you will be required to complete additional paperwork for payment of lodging expenses.

J-1 visa holders currently in the United States must have approval letter from the sponsoring intuition/university authorizing payment of expenses.

INVITATION LETTER – Individuals requiring an official letter of invitation in order to attend the meeting may write to the conference planner. This procedure is designed to assist participants who need to obtain a visa or permission to attend the meeting. The letter does not imply that the meeting organizers will assume any registration fees. Address requests to John Farris at [email protected] and include your name, professional title, business address, phone number, e-mail address, and fax number. A fax number is required, as your letter will be provided by fax.
