Wausau’s four-side, silicone-glazed curtainwall omits exterior framing for an open, energy-efficient enclosure

Wausau, Wis. (March 2011) – Ideal for low-rise buildings and entrance areas that seek high transparency, Wausau Window and Wall Systems® SG Series curtainwall systems eliminate exposed, exterior framing. Coupled with high-performance glass or sun shading system, SG Series systems accentuate the beauty, energy efficiency and condensation resistance.

“SG Series curtainwall helps architects and owners make a dramatic statement for an atrium that welcomes its visitors with openness; a reflective glass façade that conveys a sleek, modern appearance; or a daylight-filled building envelope that connects the activity indoors with the exterior environment,” says Wausau’s vice president of technical services, Steve Fronek, LEED® Green Associate.

Wausau’s four-side, silicone-glazed 6750- and 8750-SG Series curtainwall’s low U-Factors allow broad expanses of vision glass to meet Model Energy Codes. Available in 6.75- and 8.75-inch frame depths, the systems’ carrier frames are glazed in a factory-controlled environment to ensure the intended performance. Grid frames are factory-fabricated and shipped knocked-down for field assembly. Standard, structural silicone insulating glass units present an economical choice and replacement units are available on an accelerated schedule to maintain the inviting look and functionality.

SG Series curtainwall are manufactured using recycled content, which may be finished to match the building’s design and décor with a color a palette exceeding 30,000 choices. Wausau’s painted finishes may be requested as liquid or powder coatings with ultra-low volatile organic compounds (VOC) and VOC-free content. Durable, VOC-free anodize finishes accentuate the metallic appearance, such as copper color that does not patina.

Finished-to-match in recycled aluminum Wausau also offers exterior accent trim, sun shades, interior light shelves, zero- sightline insert vents, and other accessories and options. Wausau’s products are backed with an industry-leading warranty of up to 10 years.
