Last summer I planted a garden with my grandmother. In the vegetable garden we planted 15 rows of veggies and stuff. We planted pumpkins, tomatoes, green beans, carrots and lots more! Stuff like the chives we put in the freezer to freeze there because we couldn’t use them right away. In the back of the garden we planted a tiny row of strawberries.
We also made a flower garden. We planted so many flowers like tulips. And in the flower garden. I would go in and water theme. It was kind of hard to water them all because I stood on the little path in the middle of the garden so I wouldn’t step on any of them.
I helped in the flower garden but mostly in the vegetable garden because it was way bigger. I even helped plant them. We did it row by row. Each row had a different veggie. I would dig a small hole, place in the seeds, put soil on top then water them. It was so fun.

I have had a wonderful Vermont moment. It got to collect sap for maple syrup. It was a sunny cold day and sap was dripping. Another Vermont moment I had was when I went apple picking. All the trees were lined up in rows. Big red shiny apples were hanging on low think branches. That and collecting sap was awesome. Pumpkin picking in a Vermont experience too and I did it. I enjoyed all of these moments. All f these activities are really great and that’s why I love Vermont and its natural way of making perfect and true moments.

Here are some reasons why growing and getting local foods are hard. The first reason is growing food is challenging because there are always animals ready to feast. Next, it’s hard to get maple syrup because it’s expensive to make so more expensive to buy. Those are some of the hard things of getting and growing local food.
