Exams/Quizzes/Homework/Presentation: 1. There will be two exams during the semester covering signed lecture material and text/dvd homework (which will need to be turned in on Canvas by the quiz due date), as well as, a presentation. There will also be a comprehensive theory final exam. To take the exam or presentation you must be in class on time, the door will be locked to avoid interruptions to students taking the tests. Students will need to buy and bring to class 3 100-question scantrons for the tests and the Final Exam. 2. No make-up tests are given if you are absent or late. If you know in advance you will not be able to make a scheduled test TALK TO THE PROFESSOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS. This policy shall be waived only with documentation from a physician or other official in the case of an emergency. 3. Any form of cheating or copying on exams or assignments will result in a "0" for the exam or assignment and the student’s name will be given to the Vice-President of Student Services for violation of the Student Code of Conduct. 4. Pop Quizzes/CyberQuizzes/Homework: One or more unannounced quiz may be given in class over the course of the semester. There will be 15 online CyberQuizzes, three for each unit. See instructions for required CyberQuiz registration. Pop quizzes/ cyberquizzes are worth a total of 150 points and homework worth 50 points. All CyberQuizzes for the unit are due at midnight on the day indicated. The quizzes will open 48 hours before the due date time. (If you want the quizzes opened early, just email me and I can do that.) Homework is to be videotaped and uploaded to canvas, or pictures taken and pasted into a document uploaded to canvas. The homework is due at the same time the quizzes for that unit are due. Note, the professor does NOT accept google docs or links and cannot read them. There are NO make-ups for Pop Quizzes, CyberQuizzes, or Homework. See schedule on last page for due dates 5. The Presentation (unit 6) will be explained in detail in class. There is a slide on the Canvas Modules that also explains it after you have finished unit 4. You will prepare a three to five- minute presentation on your family, your work status and your weekend. This will be similar to the group work we do throughout the term in the class. If you read/watch unit 6 it will help you prepare for the in-class presentation. D. Assignments: 1. To submit papers/assignments students must go to www.turnitin.com , if you don’t have a user id already, click on New Users. This is similar to creating an email account. I recommend using your Delta e-mail and password for your login, but the password needs to be alphanumeric with a capitol. You will enter the class ID# 16961780 and the class Password 19221 (the class section#). When ready to submit your paper you will upload it to turnitin.com. I recommend you play with this prior to submitting your final draft. Make sure you get a receipt when you upload your assignment (your receipt will have your paper submission ID#) Your assignment will be graded online. You will be able to check the status of your assignment after it is graded and see what grade you earned and the teacher’s comments. (FYI: Google docs does not always upload to turnitin.com the way it looks on your computer; this may not be a good option to use as you may lose formatting points.) Side note: I allow you to upload as many times as you would like before the due date. Each time you upload it writes over/erases the old copy. It can be a good strategy to upload your drafts, so if your computer crashes, I can get you your most recent copy from turnitin.com.

At least one reference from either: SAGE, or American Annals of the Deaf must be used. This is NOT a group assignment. Extra credit must be turned in within ONE WEEK after it occurs. IF at the drop date you have not regularly attended Deaf events you can NOT start (It is NOT meant as a way to save a failing grade.) No extra credit can be earned or turned in after our last class of the semester.
V. Tutoring and Reference Materials
A. For students that have access to the internet there are several online dictionaries. There are also several links that may help you from the professors’ web page. We have a Sign Language Lab, SL 071 available, this is HIGHLY recommended. In this lab you can do your homework, bring a laptop or practice with other students, and you always have a teacher available when you do not understand something or need assistance.
B. For assistance in writing class assignments there is a writing lab available in Goleman 222 for FREE. This gets busy so do not wait until the last minute to schedule your appointments or they may not be able to accommodate you.
