Dear Parents and Community Stakeholder,
We are now approaching the beginning of a new school year and I hope that you all have had a great summer break. One of the major changes was the POSTITIVE ATTITUDE of all of our students, parents, community members, faculty, and staff members. Thanks to all of YOU, we were able to take major strides in transitioning C.H. Gullatt Elementary School from GOOD to GREAT!
Two of our goals for the upcoming school year will be to increase our student attendance rate and to have increases in reading, math, language arts, social studies, and science on the CRCT. Another goal is to have ALL of our Kindergarten students reading and writing by the end of the year. Student attendance plays a major role in their academic achievement. This year, school will start at 7:10, and we will need for all of students to arrive to school on time. I know we can accomplish these goals with hard work, effort, and dedication of every student, parent, community member, faculty, and staff member.
We would like to continue to build strong relationships with our parents, students, and community stakeholders. Last year, we had an increase in PTA membership and participation. As a result, C.H.Gullatt was recognized by the South Fulton PTA for an increase in membership.
This school year we will be transitioning to a Charter System and will be forming a School Governance Council. We will be looking for nominations of parents to be on the council. This will allow parents to assist the school with making decisions on educational resources. I will discuss more of the Charter System during Open House. We will host our Open House on August 7, 2014, from 5:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m. where you and your child will have the opportunity to meet his/her teacher. Don’t forget, the first day of school is Monday, August 11, 2014 for all students.
Remember, “Good, better, best; never let it rest; until your good becomes your better; and your better becomes your best!” At C.H. Gullatt, “We are getting smarter by working harder.” As principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop in or call to make an appointment to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help our school make the transition from GOOD to GREAT!
Sincerely, Felipe O. Jackson Felipe O. Jackson Principal, The Great Gullatt Elementary School
