The long awaiting Convention of our Confraternity is now almost with us. Now we have an idea who is who attending the Convention. We have members attending from the Grand Chapter of Melbourne, the Grand Chapter of Germany, the Grand Chapter of Portugal, the Chapter of Bulgaria and the host the Grand Chapter of Malta. Most of the members will be arriving in Malta on the 23 June, ready for the start of the week long Convention in Malta. With the intercession of our great Apostles and Patrons, St. Peter and St. Paul and with God’s blessings this should be a very successful convention where most of us, meet for the first time. Picture from the archives. GRAND CHAPTER OF GERMANY By Chevalier Professor Dr. Lothar Gellert – Grand Prior Assistant to the Deputy Grand Master in Europe.

Monthly Report March 2017 Spring has begun in Germany and the neighbouring countries and so life in and outside knightly orders becomes more vivid. The Grand Chapter of Germany has received a lot of invitations from friendly organizations, and so we were happy to take part in the convent of the “Christliche Herzensritter zue Tyrol” in Austria on 18th March. We went there with a delegation of seven people and we could proudly present our new banner for the first time. For the Saturday morning, the Tyrolians had prepared an interesting program in the City of Innsbruck. In the late afternoon we gathered for a church service in a lovely decorated old chapel of the “Burg Freundsberg”, which is situated high above the River Danube. Part of this mass was the admission of new applicants and the knighting of honourable members. All this was accompanied by medieval music.

In the evening, the unofficial part of the convent, took place in the knights’ hall of this little castle. Here a delicious dinner was served and some announcements were made. We learned that the “Christliche Herzensritter zue Tyrol” have established a Grand Chapter in Germany. In his speech, the Grand Prior of the Grand Chapter of Germany congratulated his new young colleague and promised friendship and support. UNITED NATIONS NON - GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION At home, our Grand Prior was very busy, too. Due to the international projects of the Grand Chapter, he could achieve the status of a Civil Society Organisation within the NGO Branch of the United Nations for our German Grand Chapter. This will make it easier to get in contact with other organizations.

Commonwealth of Independent Chivalrous Organizations

Furthermore, he has – entitled with this task by the Grand Master Peter Paul Portelli – started the project to build a Commonwealth of Independent Chivalrous Organizations (CICO) for the European Grand Chapter of our Confraternity and other European Orders and knightly organizations. This will strengthen the already existing network and make it easier to plan and arrange events and projects inside and outside the different organizations. The individual organizations can voluntarily join this holding organization and also when having done so, they keep their independence and the Grand Chapters of our Confraternity have only to obey the laws and by-laws of the Confraternity and the directives given by the Grand Master and the Supreme Council. In due course, the different Grand Chapters will receive a letter with all necessary information about this project.

As already mentioned, the time of travelling has started and so our next destinations are Görlitz and Göttweig.

Since most of us belong to more than one confraternity or order, we will attend the dubbing as a knight of our Grand Prior Dr. Lothar Gellert in the “Deutschen Sankt Michael Ritterorden” on 22nd April. One week later, some of our members will be officially appointed knight or dame by the CSLI in a very ceremonial act in the well-known monastery of Göttweig. In view of all these activities, we will not forget to celebrate the next holidays in a Christian manner and wish all our sisters and brothers as well as friends and their families a Happy Easter Website page: http://www.knightsofstpeterandstpaul.com/chapter-of-germany.html YOUTHFUL CHAPTER OF KENTUCKY
