Europhobes Bring Another Crisis to European Citizens

PRESS RELEASE Europhobes bring another crisis to European citizens The Front national has made an alliance with Nigel Farage’s Europhobe group in order to pass a motion of censure on the European Commission and Jean-Claude Juncker. « Europhobes and far right parties have coalesced for the first time to try to make Europe ungovernable », said Marc Tarabella, the head of the Belgian Socialist delegation at the European Parliament. « A motion of censure on the European Commission was submitted to the President of the European Parliament. 76 signatures were needed and gathered among which 44 belong to EFDD and 32 to Non-Attached Members. This action seals the first alliance between those who want the end of Europe. 1. Far right parties call President Juncker into question because of the Luxleaks revelations. Should the motion of censure be accepted the whole Commission would fall, thereby generating chaos, deadlock as well as a deep political and financial crisis. If it happened, citizens would take the rap for this, and it is out of the question. 2. Most European deputies are shocked by the tax avoidance scheme that was put up by the then Luxemburgish government. Yet we, 500 millions Europeans, do not have to foot the bill. 3. Luxleaks is an alibi. Indeed, far right parties have been contacting each other for weeks in order to pass the said motion of censure – long before the Luxleaks revelations that call the former Juncker government into question were published. 4. Passing a motion of censure is not reprehensible as such. It is only natural for European deputies, from any political group, to use all administrative and legal tools at their disposal. However the Eurosceptics and far right representatives’ only real objective is to make Europe ungovernable to feed off citizens’ misery, which they themselves will have caused. Finally, with regards to what we want from Juncker: Multinational companies cannot be above the tax law. But it would be as unfair to let citizens experience such a deep crisis again. We demand the implementation of fiscal harmonization and for each member to engage in the same tax practices so as to avoid fiscal dumping. According to the adage, old poacher makes the best gamekeeper. President Juncker is gambling his credibility in this issue!”, ended Belgian Socialist at the European Parliament Marc Tarabella.
