Clos Robert Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Clos Robert was born in Napa Valley, on Cuttings Wharf Road, where Mike and I would blend wines that came from custom crushed grapes, with a spice rack of varietals from Petite Syrah to Cabernet Franc. For the second time in its 30 year history, we have had to blend in wines from another country due to the crazy prices and shortages of good Cabernet...but we mean to keep it true to its' roots of having the elegance of a French Bordeaux, but with the power of a California wine, and I think that we have achieved that, while keeping the price constant, where in the Cabernet market now, it offers extraordinary quality/price ratio
Blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon from Valle Central Chile, and 15% Merlot from California
Tasting Note: Dark Red in color, with youngish purple notes around the rim, with a nose of ripe dark cherries and blackberries, with a hint of freshly roasted coffee, and caramel from taffy
Serving Suggestions: Any cut of beef, but it could also go well with meaty fish dishes such as grilled swordfish, and of course excellent with all cheeses
