Community Events Calendar: Can you please place the following notice on your website: The Lions Club Dog Walk: The 30th Annual Purina® Walk for Dog Guides is being held in Portage la Prairie on Sunday, May 24th, 2015 from 9 a.m. until Noon at the Lions’ Den, Island Park in Portage la Prairie. This Walk is co-sponsored by the Portage, Oakville and MacGregor Lions Clubs and La Prairie Lioness Club. The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides’ mission is to assist Canadians with a medical or physical disability by providing them Dog Guides at no cost. Today the Lions Foundation trains six kinds of Dog Guides: Canine Vision, Hearing Ear, Service, Seizure Response, Autism Assistance and the newly introduced Diabetic Alert. Pledge forms are available at local Veterinarians, Pet Food Stores, Groomers and Kennels, or on-line from the website www.purinawalkfordogguides.com .

Background information: Pledge forms are now available from local Veterinarians, Pet Food Stores, Groomers and Kennels for the Purina® Walk for Dog Guides sponsored by the Portage, Oakville and MacGregor Lions and La Prairie Lioness Clubs. Forms can also be downloaded from the website www.purinawalkfordogguides.com . One can register for the Walk, or make a donation, on-line. You can enter a prize draw if donating On-Line. Plan to come out and walk your dog! You can get a pledge form ahead of time to raise money for this worthy cause and join us for a morning Walk. You can have a good time while raising money to train Dog Guides for the Lion’s Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. At the Walk there are Prize baskets and a BBQ for walkers. Here is a summary of this event: Organizers: Portage, Oakville and MacGregor Lions Clubs and La Prairie Lioness Club Time: 9:00 a.m. – Noon Date: Sunday, May 25th Location: Portage Lions’ Den, Portage la Prairie, on Island Park (across from Splash Island) What: This Walk is to raise funds for training Dog Guides and goes to the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. It starts at the Lions’ Den on Island Park and follows the scenic Crescent Lake walk. Routes are clearly marked. It ends back at the Lions’ Den where refreshments are served.
