FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Rose Eckhoff January 15, 2008 513-575-5437 or [email protected] AVP and CancerFree KIDS Team Up in 2009 New partnership formed as Mason Pro Beach Volleyball celebrates 5th Anniversary

CancerFree KIDS and AVP Pro Beach Volleyball announce a new partnership to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer research at the Labor Day tournament held in Mason, September 4, 5, 6, 2009.

This partnership renews AVP’s commitment to the community, and is an extension of the current partnership that the tournament already has in place with the Barrett Cancer Center which has already received more than $100,000 over the past four years in contributions.

For several years now, the AVP has brought the excitement of professional volleyball to local area families and businesses during this three day tournament. Now in its fifth year, AVP players from around the world will compete for the prestigious title, including defending champions and Olympic Gold Medalists Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers.

According to organizer and promoter, Mario Cicchinelli of Reach Event Marketing, “The volleyball community is huge in the Greater Cincinnati Area and it is because of the support of this community that this tournament is so successful! One meaningful way we can give back to the city of Mason and Greater Cincinnati is to raise awareness and financial support for the incredible work that CancerFree KIDS is doing to help find a cure for childhood cancer. During the three day tournament, thousands of volleyball fans will learn more about the urgent need to support life-saving research so no child will have to suffer from cancer.”

Businesses can get involved in the AVP Mason event by purchasing “blocks” of tickets for their employees and customers or becoming a sponsor, with a portion of the proceeds going directly to CancerFree KIDS.

Ellen Flannery, Founder and Executive Director of CancerFree KIDS says the partnership with the AVP is ‘a natural’. “Volleyball and KIDS just seem to go together. We are thrilled to team up with the AVP, and are excited to be part of the growing interest and support of Professional Beach Volleyball in our area.”
